Oak Savanna Description | Flora & Fauna

A spacious, open oak savanna is situated between the gorge, the river and a line of hills to the southeast serving as something of a windbreak. The oaks that grow here are a mix of white and bur oak interspaced with the odd slender birch, though closest to the water are a few willow trees. There is enough distance between the majority of the trunks that the lush grass common to the rest of the Range blankets the area, though in spring and summer flowers and herbs revel in the ready sun.
