(Result of the duck-duck-goose game!)

After finishing his morning routine of lazily lounging beneath the shade of an overturned boulder and eating perhaps a bit more than he should; Asher Redmond had found himself at a loss of things to do. The yearling had found quite quickly that the Valley didn’t appear to have much in terms of excitement compared to his bustling Adraxian home, but he supposed the quietness and overall peaceful atmosphere was quite soothing despite it all. Maybe he’d even come to prefer the lackadaisical nature of this place rather than the harshness of his natal lands, though it would still take quite a bit of getting used to. There certainly weren’t enough gang wars and hate crimes around here.

One thing the boy did enjoy, however, was the fact that he was able to roam freely without worrying about getting shanked in the neck by some highlander. After all, adventure was the one thing Asher could truly say he loved- The one thing that brought him here. And though he’d only met one wolf thus far on his journey through whatever-the-hell this place was; He could already tell that the valley would be much more fulfilling than anything that Adrax would’ve provided.

Not that he didn’t miss the danger lurking around each corner. That was… quite honestly the only thing he enjoyed about his homeland. It kept him on his toes- Unlike here, where he was hardly ever on his toes.

Anyway, Asher had been half-heartedly bumbling about by the river’s bank when he began to notice odd lumps pressing up from the dirt. They were small, easily smoosh-able by his paw, but upon closer inspection, appeared to have tiny holes at the top. Being the ever-curious bugger he was; The boy’s first instinct was to stick his nose in it.

Only to be met with a faceful of ants.

He sneezed, whipping his head back in an attempt to dislodge the ants that were now crawling freely into his nostrils and around his eyelids. “What… the… FUCK!?” He yipped between sneezes, slamming his paw angrily into the mound of dirt.

That’ll teach those ants.

...That’ll teach him to stop sticking his nose where it doesn’t belong.

Ravana had went out for a hunt. Hopefully… Rune was sleeping and cooling off. For now… The woman would get some food for them.

What would be funny is if she got a racoon and gave it to the guy. The dark woman chuckled as she trudged through the hot day.

Then something interesting caught her golden eyes. A wolf not to far. Was thrashing around… And by an ant hill. Surely… Surely… Wolves couldnt be this stupid.

Perhaps she should find out? Ravana was curious to see if her theory was correct.

Asher huffed, sending a few of the ants flying. The boy slammed his paw into the mound another time for good measure, hackles raised in disgust. “Fuck! God, Fuck! Why did I do that?” he grumbled between sneezes. The ants didn’t seem discouraged by his thrashing. If anything, it only seemed to make them angrier. He could feel them biting him now, sending prickles of pain up his snout and inside his nostrils. Asher, naturally, freaked the fuck out.

“what the FUCK!” He screeched again, his eyes frantically searching for a way of relief. Eventually, the idea surfaced that he could simply drown the ants, and so the boy resulted in shoving his face into the river.

((he’s still not aware of her lurking ;p ))

The boy’s thrashing and screaming was very much amusing. However… Ravana ceased her laughing as the guy went and shoved his head into the river.

Goodness! He was trying to drown himself! Rushing over… The small woman grabbed the male by the scruff and attempted to haul him back on land. Ravana wasnt about to let a wolf die on her watch.

After a few short seconds of shaking his head under the current, he’d successfully gotten rid of the ants. Just as he was about to come up; Asher was pulled quite forcefully from the water. It took him a few moments to process what was happening, but when he did he jumped back, eyeing the older female.

His instinct was to snarl, but the boy refrained himself upon realizing that he wasn’t being attacked. “Fuckin’ ants.” he grumbled.

After pulling the boy out… Ravana let go and heaved. Her ribs went in and out as her breathing slowly went back to normal. “Are they gone?” she asked as the woman shook herself to lay her fur back down.

“What are you doing poking your nose in an ant hill anyway?” she asked tilting her head.

She asked if they were gone, And Asher nodded. Her next question, however, made him scoff.

“What are you doing sticking your nose in an anthill, anyway?”

“What’re you doing manhandlin’ me like a pup?” Retorted Asher totally-not-a-pup Redmond. The boy huffed, shaking the water out of his fur. When he was finally done, he turned to look at the woman with a sigh.

“I was curious.” He said simply.

Ravana was taken aback. Did every wolf do this? Whenever she tried to care she was met with harsh words.

“Well Sorry… I thought you were suicidal… Was trying to not let you kill yourself” she said with her french accent.

Then he gave a sorry explanation. “Curiosity killed the cat” she replied. “You out alone by yourself boy?” she asked peering around.

“Suicide’s for Lowlanders.”   Asher said with a shrug. He wasn’t a coward- He was just tryna get rid of the ants, woman!

At her next question, he chuckled a bit. “Been alone for quite some time, yeah.” What’d matter to her, though?

“You got that right” she said simply. Ravana believed to fight on and not just give up… Everyone was born for a reason… Even if it was suffering.

“What a shame”  she replied. “You got a name?” she asked looking the boy over.

Another question? Damn, the wolves in this valley were so quizzical! Not that he minded, of course. Asher jumped at any opportunity to talk about himself, though he was still quite bitter about being grabbed by the neck by some old woman. Nonetheless, she didn’t seem at all threatening, so his face remained stoic and his posture relaxed. “Asher. Asher Redmond.” The boy said simply, inclining his head as if to prompt the woman to tell her’s.

Asher. A simple name… Why didnt anyone have unique names? Ah… He wanted hers in return? “Ravana” she finally replied.

“So why is a boy like you by yourself? A loner i imagine?” she asked tilting her head.

Ravana. That was.. an interesting name, he supposed.

“Been a loner since I was born,” Asher shrugged. “I guess I just got sick of the same old shit. Came here lookin’ for an adventure.” The boy sighed, poking his paw into the soft dirt of the riverbank. He plopped down onto his haunches after a moment and cast his gaze to the water. “But all I get is a bunch of fuckin’ asshole ants.”

Hmm. Ravana entered an idle facial expression. “Is getting you face in an ant hill not an adventure? It sure isnt boring” she said wiggling her nose.

Was his previous life so interesting like what happened earlier wasnt good enough?

“Is sticking your face in an anthill not an adventure?”   At that, Asher snorted. Did this lady even know the definition of adventure? Because it sure as hell wasn’t ‘sniffing anthills’. A slight frown pursed his lips. If the wolves here thought this kind of thing was exciting; then maybe he was better off staying in the chaos of his homeland.

Asher sighed, his tail batting lazily at the ground as he watched the raging current from the safety of the shore. For a moment his gaze fell upon the northern sky- past the mountains and miles away towards his home. His siblings briefly crossed his mind, making him smirk to himself. Did Keaton and Alyster miss him? Surely they’d be getting into fewer fights now that he wasn’t around to stir up shit with the older kids.

After quite a long moment of silence, the boy spoke; His usually confident and brash tone replaced with something almost wistful. “I mean, It sure as hell ain’t as excitin’ as Adrax was,” He sighed.  “Your expectations get pretty high after the first few near-death experiences.”

Near death experience. Ravana supposed she had some of those… If you counted suicide as one. Then again… The girl was young at the time. Her father always talked herself out of it though… Big mistake.

The girl smiled. “Sounds like a blast. Then i suppose it will take you a while to find that adventure” she said. Oh what a joy it would be to watch this kid try and find some fun. He obviously was looking in the wrong places.
