Kyra was surprised when the trees petered out, when the light overtook the world instead. She stepped from the treeline of East Eden, the forest where she spent most of her days. To the east the river her father had showed her raced along, and the treeline bordered further to the west. But straight ahead of her was something new.
The forest was typical of the rest of the glen, close growing and dark and to Kyra Daniels, comforting. But this, this… emptiness, was awe-inspiring. It was like it stretched on forever. Kyra spotted a fallen tree just up ahead and went over to scramble up it, managing this with ease. She had lost her puppy roundness, and had a lean, graceful sort of agility to her now she was sure on her own four paws.
She sat down on top of the tree trunk and just stared. The world was so huge, and she hadn’t even known.
((Backdating this thread 1 day just as I don’t know what will happen after she meets Nima :)))
