The sky cracked with booming thunder. It sounded as if it was going to rip itself apart. A heavy rain fell, hitting the ground hard. Curves in the Earth’s surface were now filled with water and the trees seemed like they would fall any moment. Another sound followed the thunder. The steady beat of paws. They were heavy against the ground and could be heard easily along with everything else that was happening.
Arnou thundered through the forest. She saw an opening before her and, if it’d get her out of this thunderstorm, she’d take the opportunity. Her fiery orange eyes locked onto the shelter before her. She tumbled in, sliding a little ways in before stopping inside the cave. She shook off, sending little droplets of water everywhere. She glanced at the river before her and then turned her ears to hear. She heard the distant tumbling of water, a waterfall, she thought. Though the idea was luring, Arnou stayed where she was, curling up to sit by the wall. She watched outside of the cave, both to see the thunderstorm and if anyone was coming.
