While there was an urge to keep down toward the ground, there had always been a flaring urge to hit the longer stretch of grounds. It was a pleasureless adventure though, being on the move. Now that he had someone who he could double back with at the end of the day, there had been a second sharpness which had slowed him down from where he had graciously kept on the move.
Reid was far from growing weary, but he could almost sense it. There would be the first snow soon, and it would be an awakening to everyone. It would be enough that they would find themselves anticipating the coming winter, the throes of it. His cold eyes took to the landscape, the tilt of the hills offering a suggestion. No, he would not climb the mountain with the oncoming winter.
His tail flicked though, drawn to a stop. He could almost taste the salt air, the further west he drifted. But he was reluctant to go too far, without Eudora. Getting lost when she had been a serviceable enough companion was a thought he fought against. So he moved through the grasses, in part aimless, determined to cross something useful. Although his journey had been so stale with such things as of late.
