The level of exhaustion he felt was like no other, and yet… even still, satisfaction painted itself across his face. The babbling creek was like a welcoming invitation to the land, to a degree that as Tzu bent himself to drink he offered the creek itself a small bow of his head in silent thanks. His salmony tongue left and returned to his jaws in rhythmic strokes, quenching his thirst little by little until - at last - he felt refreshed enough to raise his head and acknowledge his immediate surroundings. While he wasn’t aware of where it was he’d found himself, Tzu felt at peace with it regardless; his tired muscles and tired mind could rest now, knowing that this would be the end of his journey even if it hadn’t been his intended destination. With his thoughts on his parents and the life he’d left behind, Tzu welcomed a rest and reclined to his haunches creek-side, rocking his weight to one hip and lifting his eyes to watch the burgeoning sunset that had only started to paint the sky in hues of brilliant pink and orange.

The blue-eyed beast was on the move once again, and while he had thought about lingering in the desert - the outside called him. Regardless of what he had found, there was still a hunger to be out there. To push the boundaries that he had ridden as heavily as he had, like a prayer.

It was enough that his nose took to the air, and the passing scent of another caused him to stray back toward th creek with a sincere marker of eagerness. It would have been such a taunt, a tease - the sun set proved that the air was beginning to slide out. Beginning to slip away, like a whisper, and it was comfortable enough.

Head tipped back, his eyes catching wind of that who wandered close to the creek. The wonder circulated his thoughts, his tail flagged outward with mischief. It was a typical scene, a desert wary traveler reaching the stream - rebounding from the plague of the sands.

Whether the male would be of interest, or not, he couldn’t say. But the wolf chuffed anyway, slowing his approach. Eager nellies were often never fed well.

A life in the wilds had gifted Tzu with the ever-present thought of being aware of one’s surroundings, no matter your locale or condition. That now-embedded instinct served him well, made more precious by the fact that he was a keen observer regardless, enjoying the simple yet refined art of watching things from near or far.

When the scent of another drifted beneath his nostrils, the grizzled rogue lifted his head to seek the source, eventually spying a light-hued male ambling in his general direction. For his part Tzu’s body changed little; he remained in his relaxed seated position beside the creek, but for added friendly emphasis he made a point of thumping his tail several times against the ground in wordless greeting.

A soft smile cracked the edges of his lips, and with ears cupped forward he merely waited patiently for his company to become just that: company. The closer the male got, the more that Tzu’s facade brightened: his ears cupped forward expectantly, golden eyes bright and shining, with an overall welcoming aura about him that seemed all the more endearing beneath the brightly colored failing daylight.

The male was like a beacon in the desert, a sign that the loneliness was over. Perhaps that was something that should have been a burden of choice. It was why there was a hum in his ear, and he could feel the charge of violence still murmuring beneath his flesh.

The wolf was his age, a prime that was beginning to hit that other side of the hill. It was a dangerous time in any wolf’s life, especially one for a wolf who was so big and capable of trouble. It was why eyes seemed to drift downward, and the husky grumble was out of his mouth with almost a welcoming hum.

An expression of something so invitational, Tiberius could hardly deal with the amusement that blossomed through his chest. Someone who had been alone a little too long, perhaps?

Greetings, wanderer.” His voice singing out, breaking the silence like it was a chant and a bit of a prayer. It was a gesture that was accompanied by a smile, Tiberius setting for his proper behavior. It was supposed to be inappropriate, but Tiberius felt himself sliding into a position of politeness. The monster’s skin was off, for now.

The enormous nature of the beast now lumbering toward him was lost on Tzu until the other male had drawn considerably closer. As the distance between them lessened, he realized with sudden clarity just how massive the male truly was: while it didn’t particularly bother nor worry him, Tzu’s spine did straighten somewhat so that as the greeting fell from the other’s tongue, he perhaps might not need to look so far up the bridge of his own nose to meet the others’ eyesight.

A happy, raspy chirp left his mouth in reply, tail thumping again in wordless greeting. His chin bumped upwards in a nod of welcome. Unable to fill the silence with words, Tzu took to old habits and instead reached out with a front paw to disturb the stones near his feet, clicking them together in a sound that much resembled general chatter. With his golden eyes still gleaming bright, he looked to his new company expectantly before uttering the one raspy, wheezy word he could: “Z-oo,” it sounded, as close to that of his own name as he could muster. In general, his body language remained wholly welcoming; there was still an innate level of observation, however—it wouldn’t do him well to be caught unawares.

Nearing the wolf, he allowed his tail to swish as he enclosed on the male. No need to look intimidating, although there was a part of him which expected to be feared. Tiberius was a bemouth compared to many wolves, and it suited him to be so. Big, beauty and brains - although too bad about being the nearly heartless killer, with a taste for lives seeping out between his jaws.

What he was met with was an oddity, and it sharpened his navy gaze as he observed the male do his little rock trick. What was this? His head cocked to the side though, and the swell was almost instantaneous. Who would have guessed things would have changed in such a manner.

Zoo. What a hell of a name. “A pleasure.” There was humor, but there was also a sharpening of his gaze. His own body loosened up, rolling his shoulders as he bent his head down perhaps two inches, flaring his tail out behind him as his nostrils burned with the scent of the male. Not a mute, but perhaps close to it.

Tiberius loved mutes. One had tried to eat him, and Tiberius had almost fantasized about allowing him. “I am Tiberius,” His voice rumbled, approving. “You needn’t say it - it’s a mouthful.
