As long as she kept the mountains behind her there surely wouldn’t be a problem with returning. The desert was a place that she had seen only from above, just like every other place other than the mountain. It was the first time she was experiencing the texture of the plain sand, the utterly barren wilderness and the feeling of being out of her element. She very much didn’t like how she felt and not only that, but she stood out like a sore thumb. Just her luck - how in the hell would she be able to sneak upon herds and gain information about the way they were going and what else was here if she did? Also, there wasn’t a damn thing around. Good thing she ate in the morning because there wasn’t a fucking prey item around.
She was beginning to think this ‘mission’ was ill-advised, Tomas. She was beginning to imagine things even in the middle of god-knows-where, like water, because water created lush places like the valley that had been to the west and this place was far from it. Her tongue hung out of her mouth loosely, eyelids low to block out the piercing sunlight that somehow didn’t bake the land like it probably did in the summer. That was one thing she was thankful for, also that if there were animals, there was barely anything here to hide their scent. But nope, nothing. Actually.
A wolf scent, and another, actually there were a few dotted around the area, and her imagination turned into reality at the sight of the ripples of water she seemed to brush off earlier. Blocking the area of the first sign of water she had seen for miles? Fuck no. Easily, she dismissed the barrier and trotted towards it. These must have been crazy-ass wolves if they chose to live here, and even crazier to believe she would remain hospitable in her case of thirst.
She remained alert.
