Catrine walked peacefully along the river. Her paws made neat prints in the fresh snow that was still falling to the ground and she glanced up and down their border, not expecting to find much of anything. She couldn’t shake a tense feeling between her shoulder blades. Perhaps it was the problems with the Brotherhood, or maybe her heat was creeping up on her. It was winter after all, and she was looking forward to the prospect of pups whenever it decided to arrive.
She tried to keep too many thoughts of the future from her mind. The pack was surviving, if not thriving. Members had left, and some of their guests. The pups were physically grown but many were not yet ready to take on new roles as they might in a few more months. Catrine wasn’t sure what to do with it all, an unfamiliar feeling for the otherwise very certain woman.
At least patrolling was an easy task, and something to take her mind off of others. She’d focus on today, and try to let worries about tomorrow breeze over her.
