The water held swiftly to the ice, not yet completely thawed from the previous winter months. A silhouette of a boy nearly blended in to the dark landscape, trailing down the slope of stone that led to the rapids below. August was nervously scaling the rocks, careful to not trip and scrape himself on the more rough edges. His large form appeared clumsy and unsure in this setting.
Gulping as he cleared the last rock, the timber wolf graciously made his way over to the edge of the water, taking the time to catch his reflection in the water. After traveling for so long, he hadn’t had much time to just sit and appreciate his own existence. No, he wasn’t vain in the slightest; in fact, he just wanted to see if his eyes still held the fervor they had left with. A green-eyed glare stared pointedly back at him, giving August the information he needed. Yes, his will was still there.
Distracting himself from his mental wellbeing, he crouched down against the slick rocks to dip his tongue into the blue liquid. Lapping up droplets of water, he felt the cold surface of the ground press up against his underbelly.
