Greedy little soul was all but sing songing as he went snooping for flowers. Yes that was exactly what had been needed, and there was a brightness that seemed to be sticking with him. Not a warning but a promise that there was much to consider, and his heart almost stopped with the infuriating need to find the best gift.

Find something delightful, his brain commanded, and then make the beach your home! It was an easy enough concept, but there was something the Demi god did certainly not find himself willing to do. And that was to enter a world where there was no guarantee that he would thrive.

It was not about being better, but it was about being loved by all. Was that such a horrible thing to ask for? Was it such a cruelty that none should have ever demanded? It was why eyes seemed to sparkle, and he could almost feel the horror within. He needed ot find the perfect gift, something that would tell him all that he could have ever prayed for.

Find the best, for the Halcyon, or never show his face again. That was the options that sat upon his mind as he so aptly marched.

It was spring and the weather had gotten a little warmer, maybe, though still not nearly as warm as Kaete would have liked. Still, things were getting greener and flowerier and all that, and winter memories fading more and more into the past, so she was still feeling somewhat all right.

She had still been hanging around the forest mostly, partly because it had a lot of prey, and partly because she was still tired of the hills after staying there too long, and still had bad associations with them. She was thinking of either going to that other forest to the south, or the coast, but for now she was trailing around the outer edge of the woods, trying to avoid what smelled like the territory of a large pack. She quite liked this dark, dense part of the woods, it felt more safe.

And she had been doing rather well at not running into any other wolves for a while, but then… This tall reddish-goldish wolf came into view, headed almost straight for her. Well… Probably too late now, and they were far enough away from the territory that he probably wasn’t from there, and maybe it had been long enough since the last time she talked to anyone. So. “Hi,” she barked simply, and cautiously walked closer.

Distraction was met in the embodiment of another wonderful looking creature, to which he seemed to slow down. It was such that head tipped back as he came across the otherwise winter-kissed woman, and his tail wagged good-naturedly.

Tongue was almost twisted, halted by the sheer loveliness of her. But there was not enough orange, there was not enough motion that meant she was the sun or the mood. It was a reality that seemed to keep her still, and thus there was finally a notion that sat within.

Greetings starlight,” He hummed with a smart, toothy grin; his tail swished behind him, finding the woman’s posture not a reason to sink to the ground. Most of the time, he was utterly behaved. But the way Tasuku had all but flirted with Arrow had made him wistful, wanting to find a hot and heated love story floating about.

Unfortunately, it was none so easy. Thus he grunted lightly, and refrained from going any closer - after all, most ladies likes their personal space. “Did you fall straight from heaven, or simply an angel of old?

Well. She wasn’t sure what kind of greeting she had expected, but it wasn’t to be called ‘starlight’ and an ‘angel’. She could only stand in bewildered silence, for a moment. At least he was being friendly, but.

Her mind flashed back to Emmerich and his flirty charming ways, which had ultimately only led to crushing disappointment. She shook him out of her mind as quickly as possible, but tried to hold on to the knowledge that such words were meaningless and she wouldn’t fall for them again. It was easier when it wasn’t winter. Although.. no one ever called her an angel before.. and it was kind of… No. Keep it together.

She did not really know what to say to this though. “I’m pretty sure I’m not an angel and I didn’t come from heaven. Do you say that to every girl you see?” She gave a vague smile, that didn’t really mean anything except to show that she wasn’t too offended or any other negative feeling.

Brightness was not about to run from the golden male’s features, but as he moved until he seemed prepared to make choices. It was why his head dipped, and he almost encircled himself with questions. What was this! It was a notion that seemed to offer his brightness.

Never so! Wherefore would a soul stand if the impression of each walker was the same? It would make for a chaste world, without the spices and the heat.” Voice was cheerful, although there was some little notions of excitement. It was a drive that seemed to stick with him, ad he was restless as it stood with him.

Opening his mouth slightly, his tail thumped with a pleasure that was not about to be dismissed. Yes,this was exactly as it had to be attempted. Restless, the startlement seemed to stick.

Bragi, bard of the Gods, mi’lady fair.” His introduction was truthy enough to his own reality, his head bowing as he tucked himself toward the ground in a gallant bow.

The more he spoke, the more confused she became. It was a strange way of talking, but she was guessing that he meant something about how the world would be boring if everyone was the same. Or something. But she couldn’t be sure, so she was just going to… not comment on that.

Her smile had faded into a blank stare for a moment, but she tried to bring it back. “I’m Kaete.” That sounded so plain compared to Bragi, bard of the Gods. “Bard of the gods, huh? That’s quite a title, I don’t think I’ve ever met a bard of the gods before.”

Watching him, she still didn’t quite know what to make of him, or where this conversation was going. But at least it wasn’t boring.

The angel was not one to believe simple words, and for that Bragi assumed that there had been many who had said them on the false tongue. It was a concept Bragi knew all too well, and he had seen the flash in Arrow’s eyes to know that she had as well. It was a dangerous notion that sat on the shoulders, and he could feel the shiver go through his veins.

Not a topic he would want to breach, but it was enough that it kept on his mind. Sharp moments, well, it was enough that shoulders pulled together just a little more. It was a tightness that kept in his stomach, aware he needed to be more careful with women. After all, there had been a reality that had kept him from liking Tasuku some, and it had been the boy’s blatant unawareness.

She was trying, and his head bowed apologetically. “The call of another world has always been righteously mine to obtain, my mum declared rocks in my brain to keep the tongue from never stilling, and riddling.” A cheeky grin, not wanting to take offence to the twist of his words.

Many would rather walk away, she stood there poised with a look of kindness. It was refreshing, “An apt name for an angelic coat, still,” Head bowed politely, his grin lingered.

She again had to think for a few moments to puzzle out a meaning to his words. He really did speak in riddles, or that’s what it felt like. Rocks in the brain, maybe his mum was right about that, and Kaete might’ve said so if she was in a different mood, but for whatever reason, she felt like trying to be a little more pleasant right now. He’d done nothing to deserve any insults, really.

Maybe it was her fault, maybe it was just.. a sophisticated way of speaking that she was too dumb to understand? But she didn’t like that thought, so she convinced herself it was rocks in his brain. Now then… It seemed a little egotistical for someone to think they were a poet of the gods, and she was about to ask what gave him the right to obtain the… why it was righteously to obtain his… See, she couldn’t even word it in her thoughts.

So again, she just tried to nonchalantly move on to the next subject, after nodding slowly and pretending she perfectly understood all that. “So… What brings a poet of the gods to these woods?” Even though she figured the answer would be just as confusing. She sat back on her haunches, feeling like this was going to be a long day. Like even after this conversation was over, she’d still be trying to figure out what his words meant.

The question was an easy one to answer, and his smile was absolutely beatific in response to her caring enough to ask. This was an Angel who was not only graced with beauty, but some astute observation skills. It made him want to almost wiggle with glee, but such would have been inappropriate in such a formalized aspect of just meeting someone anew.

Seeking a pelt of fine fur for the Halcyon,” The answer was swift, attempting to shift his words in a way that may have made a bit more sense. But then again, he recalled Darcien’s expression to the use of the word. Ears perked forward, and his eyes widened a tad, “The Ocean’s Priestess, caller of the friends and the borders by the sea,” There! That was a way to explain things.

His tail twitched, looking pleased with himself. It was sensible, no doubt, thus his mouth opened again to speak - but he was being utterly selfish. Prattling on about things that undoubtedly were not that highly of interest to her.  “What calls a fair maiden?” He asked, retrieving his dignity and manners, looking delighted with himself for remembering.

Oh, of course, he was looking for a… fur pelt, for an… ocean’s priestess. It made about as much sense as the rest of it. She wondered about this Halcyon Priestess lady and whether she was just as strange as the poet of the gods here… or if she even actually existed. The borders by the sea? Was there another pack over there? What if it was an entire group of weirdos that talked like this guy? That would have to be seen to be believed.

And yet… as odd and difficult to understand as it all was, as he was, it somehow didn’t make her want to run away as she would with some annoying wolves. It somehow wasn’t annoying, it was… interesting? Like a fun brain exercise. He wasn’t the same as most normal wolves, and that could only be a good thing.

She was curious about the whole thing now, to the point where she almost forgot to answer his question, because who cared about her own boring life? “Ah… nothing really, I’ve just been wandering around aimlessly. Exploring.” That was all, just about. No adventures with Ocean Halcyons and fur pelts and gods. Nothing spectacular. “I… was thinking of visiting the coast, maybe. You’ve been there?” She was subconsciously leaning forward a little with interest, wanting to hear more tales of magical ocean stuff or whatever.

Proud of himself for what he considered to be articulating his word in a favorable manner, he could hardly imagine what he was going to put on his tongue. It was why his eyes danced, and he almost wished he could have excitedly engaged further; but he kept himself in check, attempting not to overwhelm her.

Eyes of an owl,” Thoughtful, his voice approving to her explanation of herself. “Seeing the world as many wish - but few gain.” The poetry in the fact that she was an angel moving from place to place was just enough to justify his naming of her.

Thus, his head dipped delightedly, his eyes sparkling with greed. “Indeed!” His voice took on the faintest shrill note, wiggling his lower end to try and urge himself closer to the woman. It was a magnitude of excitement.

The coasts are ripened with magnificent dunes and terraces on high - washed with sweet due and remnants of the cold. Glistening fish return hastily, looking for warmer waters, alive and shrieking. Other creatures linger - scents are rampant;” His description burst forward like word vomit had been a thing since the beginning.

And Friends draw ever near.

Seeing the world as many wish… Sometimes she forgot how much she had wished to live this life, or why. It wasn’t always as glamorous as it seemed. Especially with the loneliness that started to creep in recently. But she stubbornly wanted to stick with it. It was still better than being in a pack, right?

With a nod, she said, “So many wolves are happy to just stay in one boring place forever, I never understood it. When there’s so much out there, why not try to see everything?” Like an owl. Yes, she was an amazing owl-wolf and this was definitely the best life to live. Probably.

She was glad she wasn’t boring him, as he seemed incredibly happy for the chance to ramble on with poetic words about anything and everything. He painted a rather beautiful picture of the coast, actually. It mostly made sense and she could imagine it… aside from something about shrieking fish… or was it the water that was shrieking? Ah, well.

“It sounds… lovely. Maybe I’ll stop by there sometime, but I’m not sure if I can stay long,” she said thoughtfully with a smile. She had been leaning more toward sticking to the forests, and heading back east soon because she was really going to get to that lake one of these days really, but now she was too curious. Maybe she’d just have to go see if the coast was full of poets and gods and shrieking fish.

The dispensing moment seemed to be whispering the tales that were supposed to make sense of it all. As moments slid by, lingering on the tongue in a way that should have righteously adjusted and the unveiling of a better world.

Lovely.

It was an understatement, although he would have rather shown her than anything else. It was not justice, even by his words, and his head seemed to tip with a lazy question. “Journey fast, journey slow.” He hummed thoughtfully, unsurprised by the fact she already had imposed a time limit on her travels.

But never deny a hesitation to feel the warmth upon y’r shoulders and a breeze sweet in your ears.” The confirmation on the tongue was true, and his head dipped as he peered at her warmly. “Look no farther than what your eyes can see, on the shifting sands.

“Well, it’s not that I want to journey fast, but I was supposed to go meet someone by the lake in the east, so, I shouldn’t keep him waiting too long,” she explained a little further. She hadn’t forgotten about the promise to find Runic again… even if she was taking her sweet time getting around to it… it would happen eventually.

The rest of what Bragi said was somewhat lost on her, as had become usual, but she figured it was generally some more ‘hey the beach is cool, you should go there’ sentiments. She, for one, was running out of things to say, and reckoned it might be about time to let him get back to his ‘fur pelts for halcyons’ quest.

So standing once more, she said, “I should probably get going now, in fact! Good luck with the, uh… gift for the Halcyon. It was nice talking to you. Maybe we’ll see each other again at the coast?” She could not believe how.. almost.. polite she was being. She didn’t want to be so nice, but she kept meeting these super nice wolves and somehow she just had to return their niceness, and it was another thing that made her feel weak. It was like she needed the company of jerks to feel strong.

A wolf of the Tribe should have known better to get mixed up, he was sure, in the ruffians of the forest. But she was just so pretty! The innocence that clung to her was perhaps his own projection of the woman based upon her appearance and her receptiveness, but he dared not speak ill.

I daresay I don’t desire to prevent you,” His voice sing-songed, “A tally-ho and henceforth our friendship lingers.” Grinning once again, he found his head dipping politely. But the Demi-god had no reason to linger, if she was attempting to break contact.

Be swell as the waves that call ye,” He hummed, before rightly moving himself back to trail finding. Luckily, his nose whispered, there was a fox one not too far off…

Yes yes… tally-ho. And so Kaete went on her way again, puzzled as ever. Friendship, huh? She wondered if she’d get stuck in a cycle of going from one side of this valley to the other to visit all her ‘friends’. It wasn’t what she had planned to do, but of course, she hadn’t planned anything.
