Shark was getting bigger and more aware every day. She knew words, kind of, and could see and hear better. And she was feeling…curious. Usually, she could be a good girl and stay safe in the den, but sometimes she popped her head out.
Today, she wanted to go!
It was early still and everyone seemed asleep. So, it seemed like the perfect chance. Pulling out of her tight warm ball, she looked around and, with a wriggle, clambered up the sandy opening and outside.
She did it fast so she wouldn’t get too nervous and back out, but it wasn’t really so scary. From here, she could see the water better and how wide and long the beach was…wow. Shark bumbled forward, stopping only a few yards away from the opening of the den. And then, in a celebratory tone, yelled “San’!” and rolled around.
