Finch had gone a ways from the den, and now she howled.
She had found the perfect spot to resettle them. She was worried that moving Tempest Isla would just upset whatever it was that ailed the girl, but it was clear she was not getting better with rest. Maybe moving was the solution. Maybe Tempest just needed more room to grow. So she stood near a blackberry bush she had found, with a wide and dipping area for them to convene at. A new home, with more space for seriously huge pups to grow even more in.
It seemed just yesterday they hadn’t even been an idea to her, but now…
They were real, and they were catching up to the size of their parents with alarming speed.
Besides all this, Tempest had begun roaming more on her own, and Finch didn’t want to hold her back. She didn’t have enough fear to try and mold her daughter as her own parents had molded her. She wanted Tempest to be herself, and if that meant simply powering through her illness… Well, Finch wouldn’t coddle her forever, despite protective maternal instincts.
She sat as soon as her howl died down, and wondered if her pups would heed her. She just needed to show them where to meet the family now, and hopefully make sure all was well with each of them. She saw them less, these days, and that struck her as amusing. They had such individual spirits.
