Yuna was a well-practiced pro at navigating on the beach, but even pros slipped up, and she had managed to slip on a wet rock and slice open the bottom of her pawpad on a sharp barnacle the previous day. A brisk wash in salt water hadn’t helped and Yuna was now very carefully chewing up a mouthful of marigold and iris flowers she’d collected the past few weeks to aid in healing, storing them in an out-of-the-way alcove on the opposite side of the caverns to where she could smell Astrid had her stash. She wondered where she was, and when she’d finally get a chance to meet her. She was concerned about stepping on the leaning healer’s toes, and so she had left a wide berth around spots she thought Astrid may have used.

She’d told Tidus not to fuss over her and sent him out to hunt and explore, thinking that would keep his mind off worrying about a silly cut on her paw because just sometimes, he had a tendency to be a touch overprotective. But now she found herself alone in the caverns, confined inside on such a lovely day, she missed him terribly, and company in general now she had adjusted to the social aspect of the beach, and she paused in chewing up her flowers to gaze out the entrance with a sigh.

Boom.

She came because she… could have sworn there was a trace of the scent in the air that she obsessed over the memory of. That, or she’d dreamed it. In either case, Abrielle was here in the pocket of the cove at low tide, discovering there was something new to be seen along this coast.

Just imagine if Tidus really was here. What a romantic getaway.

She spotted one of the many openings into the cliff face, and as she approached she noted amidst the salt there was definitely a faint trace of wolf… presence. Interesting.

“Hello?” Abrielle called, delighting in the lovely echo of her voice coming back to her.

Yuna could hear pawsteps in the sand, and sat up curiously, hoping it was one of the Tribe wolves she knew. She quickly ran her tongue over her teeth several times, to rid herself of the traces of flowers. Iris, in particular, should never be swallowed.

“Good morning.” She called back politely when she spotted a pale figure in the entrance to the cavern, a tentative smile forming on her face. The faint breeze brought an unfamiliar scent, and not one of the beach, to her nose and she sat up, tilting her cut paw slightly so she could keep sand away from the slice.

She really must ask Pace or Vince what to do when strangers came into the caverns. For now, she defaulted to her normal shy edge of politeness. “Forgive me not getting up, I’ve got a minor injury at the moment. Please come on in.” She invited, feeling nervous that greeting a potential new wolf was down to her. Still, she’d been doing well for the past few weeks here!

((EEEEEE :D))

It had been a few days since Yuna took care her wounds, but Kamaal didn’t feel like going anywhere. She felt kinda bad for dragging Ren and Ares into this, but the truth was that she wasn’t feeling her best and so, sticking to the beach it was.

She had practically slept the first day away, choosing to ignore everything and everyone around her and not give a damn about anything. She just wanted to sleep and so, sleep she would. But now, now she was feeling better. Now, she was feeling more like herself again and she decided to take advantage of that. While she still felt a bit messed up, she wasn’t willing to stay still any longer, she was tired of playing ‘good patient.’

Luckily the day was pretty nice, with no clouds littering the sky or anything like that, so she had sorta taken advantage of that and went to snatch a fish. While it didn’t taste anything like meat, she was better off eating than going hungry. Besides, she had to prove to Ren that she too could fish. Sadly though, he wasn’t here to witness her victory. Bummer.

Her pace was loose, toes wide open to help her maneuver on the soft sand. It was different than walking on solid ground, ground that had grass growing through it instead of small shiny rocks, but it wasn’t bad. It wasn’t bad at all.

Traces of fish were still littering her mouth, but she didn’t pay any mind to it - for now at least, for she was busy checking out the area, an area she had dismissed while heading for the Labyrinth. It looked nice here, more sheltered, somewhat calmer. She would’ve poked Renegade to come along with her, but judging from his reaction in the Labyrinth, she doubted that he’d actually enjoy lingering close to pack grounds.

I hope you don’t mind me dropping my psycho here c;

Ares wasn’t letting either of his parental figures out of his sight ever again. So, he shadowed Kamaal, lanky pup body starting to fill out as summer began to fade into fall. Aqua blues followed his foster mother’s every movement, ears laid back against his head.

He didn’t make his presence known. Kamaal probably knew he was threre anyway. She was good like that.

He watched her enter the cove, and he slunk along behind, her shadow, making sure she wouldn’t vanish again.

Oh, it was just some female who answered. Abrielle looked to her appraisingly, realizing that this had actually been the first female she’d run across in… a while. Maybe since she left home.

She was injured, apparently, and Abrielle… didn’t really care. Single-minded tunnel-vision. Upon a closer look, actually, she noticed the female looked rather… shoddy. Not just covered in the sand she rolled around in, but her mussed fur looked like it wasn’t sure what color it wanted to be and gave up halfway through.

And was that the light, or were her eyes different? What a confusing existence.

“Hello,” she said, more definitively. “I’m looking for my mate, Tidus.”

Always to the point.

(Not sure if kamaal is actually inside one of the openings…? It read like she was outside somewhere)

((Also gonna assume Kam and by extension Ares are somewhat outside the caverns :)))

Yuna blinked at the entrance as a pretty white female was silhouetted against the light. Yuna found herself glancing down at herself self consciously at the perfectly groomed appearance of the pristine female’s coat - how could she cross the beach and still look that beautiful? She felt messy and oddly… clumsy, in comparison.

Given that she had little inability to see through rock she was as yet unaware of Kamaal and Ares outside, and as the white wolf spoke she claimed exactly one hundred percent of Yuna’s attention when she mentioned a very familiar name.

Her eyes widened, and a horrible feeling rose a lump in her throat. Surely…  was it a joke? One she simply didn’t understand? “Sorry?” She croaked, puzzled, curling up the injured paw in front of her body out of nerves. Tidus wouldn’t…. no. No, she felt like the worst mate in the world even thinking it. Tidus had the strongest morals of any wolf she knew - he would never see anybody else behind her back. They were happily mated, planning their future and their family… but… it was such an uncommon name…
“Tidus is the name of my…” She trailed off mid-sentence, horrified to find tears had sprung to her eyes. She just felt so frumpy and out of control in front of the collected gaze of the other girl.

Kamaal was well aware of Ares following her, but she found no reason in letting the kid know that he had been spotted. Not yet at least. Her tail flicked casually behind her as she licked her lips getting rid of the last few bits of fish that were scattered across her muzzle.

Pumpkin eyes studied the area for a few moments, finding several openings in the cliff face. Interesting.. interesting indeed. Pushing forward, she held her head at a respectful height, tail remaining aligned with the rest of her spine. She was starting to get used to the whole beach idea, so remaining confident was as easy as breathing. Besides, playing the scared little kid in the corner brought nothing but pain - everyone saw it as a weakness and weakness was something she was not willing to show.

The sound of a voice - two voices actually, drew her closer, forcing her to enter the sheltered area. Her ears remained cupped atop her crown, fiery gaze fixed forward, narrowing on the duo of silhouettes in the distance. If her eyes weren’t dicking around with her, one of them was Yuna, seeing as the scent was quite familiar, but the other.. the other was just a stranger.

The area allowed for their vocals to echo in her ears, but Kamaal had managed to miss the first bit of the presumed conversation between the pale girl and the ivory stranger and so only Yuna’s last sentence rang in her ears. Judging from the tone of her voice, she wasn’t having a good time and Kamaal already felt frustration building within her.

She still owed the girl a favor for saving her ass from that nasty infection and she wasn’t just about to ignore that. Her tail swished passive-aggressively, eyes narrowing closely on the white figure of the stranger. She had stopped in her tracks, deciding to observe for the moment and act later if needed. The stranger’s back was the only thing that she could see, which was positive - at least as far as she could tell.

Her head whipped around for a moment, cognac eyes clashing against Ares’ sea-foam pair. She only wished that the kid understood and stayed quiet, holding his trap shut. Of course, she could not hope for him to understand her, but she kinda wished he would, like Ren always did.

Ares knew what was wanted of him. His ears flattened upon spying Yuna. She looked upset. Very, very upset. His lips curled, flashing teeth for a brief moment. He sunk lower into the shadows, catching Kamaal’s eye and nodding

He would smack the bitch if need be

“The name of your… what?” Abrielle asked, her tone edging on impatient.

But she was momentarily distracted. It was a good thing daylight had a habit of casting shadows.

As a shadow crept past her paws and someone entered into the area, Abrielle whipped her head around also. A big black female right up on her ass, blocking her path out. And it seemed she was looking for someone else, as well.

How convenient, someone approaching right when she was.

Abrielle turned so her back was against the wall and they were all in her field of vision, and looked sharply back at the dumb girl.

Where in the name of every star in the sky, had all the confidence she’d showed when Fray/Walter laughed at her? When she told Beauregard not to call her dear? It seemed to have vanished under the stern, impatient gaze of the white wolf, and Yuna was horrified that even her stutter returned as she stammered out “The n-name of my m-mate.”

Oh. So the pale little bitch turned around, okay. No big deal, she wasn’t trying to hide anyway and apparently hiding in black during the day was nearly impossible. Her eyes fell on the ivory girl, gaze neutral as ever. It was easy to play the statue, so the statue she’d be, a statue without emotions.

“Morning,” She flicked an ear, pushing forward and closing the gap between herself and the duo. “May I interrupt you two for a moment?” She queried, deciding to stick to playing the stranger herself. That bitch didn’t need to know that Yuna knew her, she didn’t need to know anything. She paused a few yards away from the pale girl and the ivory stranger, eyes flicking casually between the two of them.

“I believe that Pace needs you.” It was a good thing that she kept the names of the two potential pack leaders in the back of her head. Pace and Vince, they sounded.. interesting. “As far as I was told you’re the herbalist of the pack, correct?” She queried, tone sharp, lively. She needed a bit more time to see what the hell was going on between the stranger and Yuna before she decided her plan of action. So far, Yuna’s stutter wasn’t a good sign, nor was her body language. Something smelled foul about the small gal already.

Her tail flinched behind her, ears remaining rested forward. She wouldn’t interfere unless it was needed and for now, it wasn’t. She merely wanted to make sure that she wasn’t going to be collecting herbs for the one who healed her in the first place.

Ares leered from his place in the shadows. His tail twitched, ears flicking. He didn’t like what was happening. Kamaal going out into the shadows. His ears perked. Maybe…

Ares turned around quickly, slipping outside. And then

Ye-OW!” He wasn’t hurt, but hell, he could pretend. He rolled onto the sand, whimpering, holding his leg awkwardly

Stutters followed, and it made a pathetic girl even worse for it. The words that left her mouth clicked instantly,  though.

Her mate. Good fucking thing Abrielle had been more than prepared for this. Good fucking thing she’d run into those other bachelors and they told her about his new girl. And what an embarrassment of a new girl.

Abrielle’s face immediately fell into a look of utter shock, and it was not entirely false. Just look at this girl. Oh, Tidus. His standards seemed to have fallen. Perhaps he’d been desperate for a rump to buck up against.

The other female spoke, seeming intent on taking her away, and Abrielle would not move to keep her there. Just to slip in a word before she left, so she could cry about it to whoever Pace was.

“Wait! I… oh goodness, I’m so sorry,” she said softly to the ugly bitch, keeping her back firmly against the wall. “I should have known he’d just…”

She shook her head, golden-brown eyes full of pity for the messy girl.

“I’ve been looking for him for a while, now. We have… pups. They miss their father.”

Just then, someone shouted outside, and her head turned sharply, rightfully startled.

Yuna’s mind raced, although she stayed shock-still. Her tail tucked up close to her body, frozen with one forepaw in the air. This had to be… maybe not a joke. Maybe some sort of misunderstanding? She couldn’t tell.

“No, I…” He gaze went to Kamaal, calling for her as if they had not met, and she was too focused on the stranger to catch on to the plan. She startled when Ares yowled, and instinctively her injured paw hit the ground to make her way to him.

This wolf had to be wrong, but she sounded so sure. “M-my Tidus… he doesn’t have pups. We’ve…” Been together too long? Had they, really? But no… she couldn’t believe this, of all things, was true. “We…” We want pups. Tidus desperately wanted kids of his own. And he wouldn’t want them with her if he already had some…

Right?

Her gaze went again to Kamaal. “I’m a healer, yes…” She took a step towards Kamaal, but hesitated to cross in front of the white female, especially given the news she was delivering and the earth she was shattering out form under Yuna’s paws.

She longed for Tidus. She knew it was weak of her, not to want to handle it herself, but this was so far beyond her realm of possibility, she just wished more than anything in the world he would come and fix it.

Things seemed to be turning quickly and Kamaal found herself in a hurricane of confusion. Of course, none of it showed on her face - she had to maintain a neutral stance. The stranger dropped a whole bomb on Yuna, claiming that she had pups with her mate. Kamaal knew that Yuna had a mate, but her knowledge went no further than that on the matter. She didn’t know his name nor his appearance. He was practically a face amongst millions for her, a stranger, just like this ivory bitch.

However, she had to side with Yuna for now, given that the pale girl was the only one she was well acquainted with. The other, white colored wolf was merely a stranger and in truth, Kamaal had no interest in her, but she’d stay here and observe just for the sake of keeping her promise and returning the favor to the one who patched her up.

She still had to find out if the stranger’s words held some truth to them, ‘cause the truth was that she couldn’t go bombarding someone she hardly knew with accusations like Snowball had done. “Are you staying near the Tribe? I’m sure they can offer you and your children protection - perhaps even let you enter their community.” She grinned, tail wagging faintly. She still had no idea if the female was lying or not. Sure, she knew Yuna - had met her a few times, got her ass patched up again from her, but she hadn’t met her mate and so her vision of him was vague.

“How long have you been looking for him?” She trailed off, tone awkward, eyes shifting from the white stranger to look into the distance in a display of passive-submission. She had to fish for information first and then.. then she’d be able to react better to this whole thing. Yuna feeling tense in the presence of the strange female made her a bit suspicious as to what had happened before she arrived, but the past was not what mattered. It was the now that counted.
