Yuna had always enjoyed spending time with puppies, and these two she had met so early on in their lives she had a special fondness for, even if she had been too busy gathering herbs lately to actually spend a great deal of time with them. She felt sorrow for that; puppies grew so quickly, and before anybody knew it they’d probably both be taller than her, if they took after their mother. The tide was perfect for a puppy fishing lesson, and the sun warm on the fur of her back. She padded into the caverns, wondering if it was too early for the pair of them to be awake, and paused just inside the shadow of the entrance.

“Caaaaaaarl?” She called softly, trying her best not to wake an of the adults sleeping within. “Shaaaaaark?”

Carl heard lots of yelling on the beach.  Shark always yelled.Wolves liked to come into the cave yelling for other wolves.

But not often did they yell for Carl. Luckily, Carl had been awake for a while, digging in the sand. He convinced that if he dug deep enough he would get to the ocean and then he could watch the fish from a hole in the sand, but he was almost too deep for to reach the bottom and there was no sign of the ocean. His head shot up from the hole, big ears swiveled forward towards the hushed call of his name, and he was quick to abandon his goal when he recognized the voice as Yuna. Who promised to take him fishing.

He bounded through the cove to the entrance where Yuna stood in wait, a big goofy grin on his face. “Time to go fishing?!” he announced, maybe a little too loud for the early hour…but sorry Friends, he was too excited to stay quiet!

Bragi was not the sort of hiding away in the shadows for too long. While he had not been avoiding anyone, he found himself surprised that he had not taken the time to reconnect with Yuna after the drama that had happened with whatever the shiny green pack had called themselves. A union of loud noise.

His attention was drawn to the sight of Yuna even now, surprised that such a woman was not more fiercely guarded by a mate who claimed to lover her so. But he didn’t linger on that, merely smiled with the boisterous Carl that appeared.

Settling down at some distance, he allowed a fleeting smile their way and laid his head down in the sands. Watching.

Yuna let a smile spread, Carl’s appearance and wide grin warming her heart. “Time to fish, Carl.” She agreed, much more softly, bending down to touch him between the ears in greeting. She led the way back outside, her tail waving gently, spotting Bragi lifting his head to look at her.

He was another of the legion of wolves who had been encouraging to Yuna upon the beach, and her smile was genuine. His words - even though she had not understood them all - had been helpful and bolstering, and she lifted her quiet tones a touch to call out to him.

“Good morning, Bragi! If you see Shark, would you tell her she’s welcome to come fishing with myself and Carl?”

Carl was already running towards the water, tongue lolling from between his jaws. He glanced over his shoulder, but Yuna wasn’t yet following. She said something to someone about Shark, and Carl skid to a stop in the damp sand. “C’moooonn, Una!” He yelled.

Watch out, Fish. Carl is ready to get his catch on.

Bragi’s tail wagged, finding himself offering a dimpled smile in reaction to being called upon. His eyes twinkling as he watched her move, his head inclined in response.

Ever an aide to a glorious sea queen,” Readily enough spoken, not leaving room to make an inference whether or not it was about Shark or Yuna. Still, it left him laying his head back on the sand. Happy to watch.

Yuna laughed softly. “Coming Carl!” She nodded graciously at Bagi to excuse herself from their brief conversation, then picked up speed and bounded after the young male to catch up with him.

“Okay Carl - here is where I thought we could fish.” She paused with her forepaws at the edge of a of tide pool, long enough the breeze picked up tiny waves on its surface. “When the tide is low it leaves these pools, which you’ve probably seen because they’re always nice and warm for swimming. But because there’s no way for fish to escape out to sea, they are wonderful places to do some fishing.” Nothing huge would be in the pools most times, but Carl only needed smaller fish to practice on today.

*slides back into this thread apologetically*

Carl watched the male who lay in the sand. What was his name…Bragger? Rag-something?

Oh well, it didn’t matter, Rag-guy didn’t seem interested in participating in Yuna’s lesson. Which was fiiiine with Carl, who’s emerald gaze shifted to the female’s form as it came back towards him. She said she thought they’d fish in the tidepool, and Carl’s enthusiasm waned slightly. Oh. He’d thought they’d be fishing in the ocean, thought he wasn’t sure how that would work… Maybe the tide pool was a good idea after all.

He brightened again, nodded vigorously as Yuna spoke. Fish got trapped here. He looked down at the pool, where there were a number of little money things trapped…Crabs and minnows and a starfish, slowly crawling up the side of a rock. “How do we get ‘em?” he asked, lowering his head until the tip of his nose was touching the salt water, eyes crossing in concentration.

Yuna almost laughed at his intense concentration, but she held it back because she didn’t think that he would appreciate it. She had never liked being laughed at when she was a puppy.

“Well, it takes a bit of patience.” She warned, knowing this was the hardest part for a puppy to master. Often they lacked the attention span and focus that came with age, but that didn’t mean he couldn’t practice. “What do you think would happen if we jumped right in in and went splashing around after them?”
