It was strange for Yuna, spending a few days away from the beach. But as long as she had her mate with her, she didn’t mind. It wasn’t as if they were moving here for good, and so despite the restlessness that occurred whenever her paws went too long from touching sand she had decided to explore tonight.

She had, in truth, been hoping to find Fray somewhere here, and his scent was faint in the area, telling her she had been here. But it seemed he had already left, and Yuna’s heart was heavy, worrying about just how much truth had been behind what Kamaal had told her in regards to her friend.

She grew distracted as the stars started to come out though, standing with one forepaw raised and a small smile starting on her face. They were clear here, a slightly altered view of the sky from what she saw from the coastline.

((Tidus and Yuna’s arrival thread to visit the evergreen has been sidetracked by hunting :P But I’m going to assume they are staying in the Evergreen forest for now, just want to get a new thread up for her while she’s here to prevent backdating needing to happen :)))

Kamaal was lingering in the forest. Nothing new, really. But, for some reason she felt like heading back to the clearing, hoping that maybe Fray or Skuld would’ve be hanging around. But, they clearly weren’t.

Oh well.

She didn’t really want to see the dude, but, she frankly had no idea if she was truly frustrated at him for what he had done to Pierre and the Cadre or if it was her anger with herself and Ren speaking and fucking him up as well.

I mean, sure, he had fucked up the kid - both mentally and physically - but, since when did she give a shit about others’ misfortunes? What the heck was wrong with her, dear god. Last time she had checked she was an asshole who didn’t give a single damn about anyone except herself and now…

Now, she honestly had no idea for who she cared for. Maybe finding Ares again had changed her, combined with breaking Renegade. Was guilt catching up to her?

Oh hell.. couldn’t she just be a tree? Ya know, a big-ass tree and just do what trees did.

Learn how to ‘tree’.

A very familiar aroma hit her nostrils just then and her ears perked up, head moving a bit to the right as she angled herself toward the direction of the clearing. What the hell was Yuna doing here?

She pushed forward at a light jog while releasing a couple of barks to alert the older girl of her presence.

Will be there next round!

Yuna’s ears lifted from half-mast position and she turned towards the sound. Kamaal - so she had come back from her beach trip as well. Yuna wondered if her friend called this forest home now. The Evergreens she had met were good wolves - they might be a good influence on Kamaal, she though with a smile, thinking of her sometimes wild friend.

She barked once back, but Kamaal would find her without too much guidance. Anyone who knew Yuna would have looked in the first open space the forest provided at night.

She was always called back to the stars.

Rufus wasn’t an overly pushy guy.

But…The Clearing, as of late, appeared to have become a place entirely for rogues. He had been around it more, marking the trees. Rubbing on them. Certainly plenty of wolves patrolled here.

And yet, as he caught an unfamiliar scent on the wind, he felt a surge of frustration. Accompanying it, naturally, was Kamaal’s voice. If she’d brought along another stranger, he’d…probably need a talk with her.

Approaching the scent on somewhat plodding paws, he was surprised as he broke the tree line to see…Yuna. Oh. He supposed the mud coating last time had largely rendered her scent unmemorable. Rufus’ expression was one of clear surprise, but not unpleasantly so.

Oh, hey, Yuna.

It didn’t take terribly long for Kamaal to emerge through the trees and spot Yuna. Standing, in the middle of the clearing. She let a phantom of a smile creep against her features, tail giving a couple of wags before growing stiff again.

Her eyes slid a bit to the left where a very familiar voice rang from.

A Rufus.

“You never miss a party, huh?” She queried, quirking a single brow, tone slightly teasing. The smile was still on her lips as she regarded him coolly, eyes clashing against his duller pair. Rufus was here - she was fine with that, but that didn’t mean that she didn’t feel a bit weird.

I mean, okay.. Fray had slipped away thanks to both her and Skuld and… Mari. Holy shit. Fray was one lucky bastard, but then again, news traveled fast and the possibility of Rufus knowing about the truth was pretty darn high.

“The sky’s quite magnetizing, is that it?” She asked after a few moments of silence, both brows arching as she tilted her head backwards to view the darkening blues and oranges above.

Yuna smiled at the sight of her friend, pleased to see her looking in better spirits than when they last spoke. She hadn’t forgotten how much Kamaal had trusted her with though - numbering the black female among the closest of her friends, these days.

Speaking of friends, another had shown up.

“Good evening Kamaal, Rufus. It’s good to see you both.” She spoke warmly, though there were a few nerves in her tone. New areas, especially so far from the ocean, often did that to her. Even though she felt about as safe as a Yuna could feel, int he company of these particular wolves and with her mate close by.

She smiled briefly at Kamaal. “There’s always comfort in the sky.” She replied, even though she wasn’t entirely sure what the word magnetizing meant, she thought she understood the gist of it. Her gaze went to Rufus. “We- Tidus and I that is - came by for a visit.” She explained, a touch shy now to be so forward as to reveal this. “I think we were at the caverns a bit early for everybody though. I hope you got the rabbits we left?”

Kamaal was here, of course, and she regarded Rufus with a degree of surprise that he found…not entirely great. Again, he wasn’t territorial. He didn’t shove friendly rogues from their lands. But certainly, it was a greeting somewhat implying that Rufus was intruding, however lightly.

It was the same wording she’d used when he’d wandered upon Fernando and Skuld. And then…left, because he felt as though he was out of place.

In his own territory.

Just parties that happen in my home,” he offered back to Kamaal, tail waving once, but ultimately perhaps a bit more temperate in nature than usual.

His eyes traveled upwards, and he thought of Skuld’s abrupt exit. Rufus wondered where she went and why.

Yuna continued, and…Rufus was somewhat surprised.

Shucks, did you make a bit of noise? Normally someone’s about. Certainly appreciate the rabbits — I’m sure someone got to them.

He offered a sheepish smile, then glanced around a bit.

Glad you’re visiting, anyway. Tidus around?

Parties that happen in his home.

Okay. He wanted to play the passive-aggressive Boogeyman?

Fine, he could go for it.

“Thought the host was always welcome, isn’t that how it works?” She shot right back, tone neutral. Rufus was not the enemy and she wasn’t about to make him one. Her tail gave a gentle sway, eyes landing on Yuna as she spoke of her and Tidus paying the Evergreens a visit.

She had never really thought that the girl would actually crawl out of her shell and come visit an area away from the beach and all that sand. But, anyway. She was here now and that was what truly mattered.

It was clear that the dude was not as chill as before and she could relate with him to an extent. But, of course, her patience with passive-aggressive behavior was quite limited, so if he decided to play in the same way he displayed earlier..

She was just tired of conflicts, okay?

No more conflicts, please.

Yuna picked up on the unspoken tension, and her head turned from Rufus to Kamaal with a faint trace of nervousness. She did not understand where it had come from without the background of what had occurred recently in the forest, beyond what she knew from Kamaal, and not much of that had directly related to the Evergreens…

“Oh—we called a few times but it was early, Rufus, and I didn’t want to make too much noise.” She dropped her head a bit anxiously. She knew what caves were like with echoes. Had she done the right thing? Probably not. The Tribe was so relaxed and with such a lack of rules of any kind, Yuna still wasn’t certain now of proper greeting etiquette for packs.

“Yes, he’s enjoying your forest. He likes exploring.” Yuna revealed, with a brighter smile as Rufus brought up her mate. “He’s been looking forward to meeting you. I’ll call him, if you like?” He looked at Kamaal too as she spoke. Technically Kamaal would have met Tidus already, briefly, but it hadn’t exactly been a proper introduction.

Rufus didn’t even know what Kamaal meant. Who was the host? Was he the host? Because he…certainly hadn’t summoned anyone, and twice she’d commented as though his presence was unexpected and intrusive. Was she the host? That was…pretty presumptive, to imply that bringing others to a place meant she was always welcome there. He decided it best to ignore the comment, because, well. Kamaal seemed to thrive on being an instigator, and he wouldn’t indulge her.

He could feel when he was being taken advantage of. The Evergreens, as a whole, were stretched thin. Kindness had brought them many, many rogue mouths to feed as of late. For this to be Kamaal’s preferred place to bring strangers, particularly after she’d done such a curious dance in the presence of Fernando, rubbed him all wrong.

Instead, he just offered a faint chuckle of response to Kamaal, having little else to say in response to a metaphor growing a little unwieldy.

Yuna, of course, was an opposite sort of guest. He felt bad that Kamaal was putting on such a strange show in front of the smaller female, and he quietly hoped she’d knock it off.

You’re too kind. Rabbits are always good enough reason to wake me up, anyway,” he said with a grin. “I’d love to meet him. Can give him a tour of the caves, too. Has he met Kamaal?

Rufus let a chuckle as a response to her comment, but it really was nothing too surprising. However, that didn’t mean that she wasn’t wary around him. She and Skuld had done their fucking best to save Fray’s ass, but it turned out worst than expected.

Fray had spiraled down, oops.

She took a seat a few feet away from her friend then, tail curling around her frame. So, Yuna was here with her mate - no surprise again. Too bad she hadn’t gotten the chance to meet him properly though..

Fray and her were kinda busy shoving that Barbie doll out of the beach, but, as she came to think of it.. it really wasn’t such a great idea. Ya know, shoving a sick wolf.

But, oh well.. shit happened.

“We’ve met,” she confirmed a mere heartbeat later, nearly laughing at her own words. “But, it was a rather hasty meeting - had to take care of the vomit that decided to decorate my pelt.” A lopsided smirk, the tip of her tail twitching a couple of times.

Her eyes slid back to Yuna for a moment before landing back on the dude, the phantom of a smile still on her lips.

Yuna looked at Kamaal with as much guilt as if she herself had been the one to decorate her fur. “Sorry about that.” She told her friend meekly. “But I did appreciate it you know.” Even if Kamaal had reacted a lot more violently than Yuna had wanted, she knew it had been done with the intention to protect her.

Maybe one day she’d learn to handle that part herself.

Her attention returned to Rufus and she smiled faintly, mentally scrambling to regain her cheerful mood. She didn’t waste much time in sending out a few barks for Tidus, and she really concentrated on keeping them light and breezey sort of barks, since he was mildly prone to worry around her and she didn’t want him charging in thinking she was in trouble.

“He’d love that.” She agreed readily to a tour of the caves, her tail wagging. “How’s Mari doing?”

Tidus was…around. Doing dude stuff. Actually he had been rolling down a hill at the moment, but he was up and replying in seconds, releasing several barks as he set out at a trot towards Yuna.

Rufus’ eyes widened in brief confusion as they spoke of…vomit. For a second he thought Kamaal was implying that Tidus had vomited on her and wondered what bizarre first meeting that was. His mind clarified a bit soon after.

Deciding to leave that topic between the females, he did smile, albeit a little falteringly, to Yuna’s thoughtful question.

She’s had better days. Had a run-in with a deer while hunting, broke a rib or two. She’s healing well, standing and walking with some help. And in good spirits, too. Strong as she is.

He heard a few barks, ears swiveling toward them as he looked to Yuna to confirm they in fact belonged to Tidus.

Yuna apologized and Kamaal turned to face her, blinking a couple of times in surprise. It wasn’t her fault - that Barbie doll vomited on her, not Yuna herself.

“Don’t sweat over it,” the words were spoken easily before her attention shifted back to Rufus as he spoke about Mari. Well, at least she was doing better.

That was good and it didn’t sound like many ribs were broken either. But, in all honesty, no matter how many ribs someone broke it always fucking hurt.

And it hurt badly.

“Glad she’s doing better,” the words were genuine, because hell.. who would enjoy seeing someone they loved on their deathbed? I mean, she hadn’t met Mari yet, but Savvy was so fond of her, and just.. losing her wouldn’t be good.

For anyone.

Her head then turned toward a few barks then, ears cupping forward. Was this Tidus? Their meeting was so brief and under such bizzare circumstances that she honestly couldn’t really remember his scent.

So what the hell, it was like meeting him anew.

Yuna’s tail picked up an unconscious sway at the sound of Tidus’s return barks. The motion would carry through the next few minutes. She was comfortable here with Kamaal and Rufus - but she had wanted her mate to meet them both, properly.

She nodded automatically at the unspoken question in Rufus’s eyes. “That’s him.” She confirmed. Her mind automatically filled with worry over Mari. Broken ribs - well if she was recovering strongly they couldn’t have damaged the lungs, as that typically killed quickly.

“You’ll let me know if there’s anything I can do to help?” She asked Rufus, anxiousness back in her voice, thinking about potential healing problems. “Even if it’s just looking for herbs.” There wouldn’t be as much readily available so late in the season, but anything that she could find might help.

“Has she been coughing, or having any breathing difficulty?” She asked without thinking.
