Yuna had slept in. Tidus has, after all, kept her up fairly late the previous night, though there had been no protests from her whatsoever. She awoke and set off in search of her mate, tail swaying behind her, enjoying the feel of the wind in her fur.
She tracked his scent along the sand to a large pile of boulders, where he was watching the sun rise. The sight warmed her heart more than the touch of the winter sunshine.
It wasn’t quite the touch she’d been dreaming about all night though. She wanted to blame her hormones, and certainly she gained something of confidence in her heat so far, but the truth was she’d always wanted him and been less vocal about expressing it, a part of her always too shy he wouldn’t want her for an assortment of reasons.
She paused at the base of the rock he sat upon, a smiling lighting up her face as she drank in the sight of him. Her body screeched at her to go leaping up the rock and tackle him, but the part of her that reveled in aesthetic things paused. With some effort, she held herself in check, forepaws lightly resting on the rock, body extended in his direction - but not going to up him yet.
He was surely the most handsome wolf in the entire valley, all lit up in the light, and he was her mate. There were days when she felt too lucky to put into words.
