Bohemian entered the gorge slowly as he returned to the valley of Horizon. His last experiences in these lands were both wonderful and terrible all at the same time. Finding his brother, gaining a family and joining the Northern Order ranked among his top five best memories of this valley and yet, many of those memories were tainted with sadness. Darin’s death, the disbanding of the Order, his family going their own ways and vanishing like ghosts…so many happy memories ruined with sadness. And yet, he was back, the valley sounding it’s call like a siren on the rocky shores of life. Despite the ups and downs this place had given him, Horizon Valley slowly snuck it’s way into his heart and nestled deep within as his home. No longer did he call Adega or Crux Grotto his home…they had long since become just a faded memory. This valley was his home and he breathed out a sigh of relief as he walked into the wasteland, blue eyes taking in the gorge around him.

A smile broke out on his muzzle as he finally felt like himself again. The past year, he’d traveled outside of the valley, trying to put it in his past and move on. And while he’d had happy moments, it wasn’t until his paws touched this land once more that he truly felt happy and at home again. Taking more steps forward, Bo decided right there to let the past go and move on towards a brighter future. Perhaps Astrid was still in these lands, or even his friend Bucky. Perhaps his niece and nephews were here as well, grown with families of their own. And perhaps he would reunite with them all, or perhaps he’d wander to a new place and create a new life and new friends. Anything was possible and the possibilities seemed endless. A joyous bark left his muzzle as he began this new journey, one paw in front of the other.

It was suffocating.

This constant pull to be close, to lose herself in the yearning. Somewhere beneath the fog, Scabbia clawed for freedom. For herself. Her own identity. But he was over her, teeth grasped into the side of her throat, dragging her head underwater.  He told her to drink, so she drank, and found it tasted like the unfrozen berries, tart and cloying on her tongue.

She lolled in weightless sleep, her mouth dry. Her throat dry from the drinking, the eating, the yelling, the wanting. So base, so greedy, such foolish needs. She thought she was stronger than that.

Stumbling accusations fell from her tongue like dust, and the bruises in her neck pained anew, reminders. And she longed to feel them fresh, to be dragged again, to drown and gasp back to life and call to him, voice no longer cast in stone.

It was a gasp that woke her more than the bark, echoing through the walls. She felt cold, though it was daytime, and lurched up, finding her feet.

Who barked within the gorge? Who even found the way? She was a bizarre mixture of automatic, vulnerable, and protective, and made her way down the path with confusing dream memories floating still in her sleepy mind and a slightly furrowed brow for the disturbance.

(Feel free to have him see her coming down a path along the gorge wall :))

Bohemian walked further into gorge, trekking through the valley below the mountainous paths. A chill swept over him as the wind picked up. He’d remembered these lands being warmer, though it was winter. The dessert was a cruel mistress indeed, offering little water and humid temperatures most of the year. And yet, even in winter, the land was greatly inhospitable.

Another chill wracked his body as he trekked westward, intent on leaving this wasteland behind for greener pastures. Perhaps the coast would be nice this time of year? Walking along, his eyes noticed movement in the cliffs above him and he paused, taking in the sight to decipher the form. A small, lean form maneuvered the treacherous paths above as easily as if they were walking in the valley, as he was. A smile on his face, he traced her route down the paths to learn where she would exit into the valley with him. Experience told him to be wary of the stranger and yet, he was in much too good a mood to let a stranger bring him back to despair.

Moving towards the path she would soon exit, Bo sat down and waited for his company…or was he her company? Oh well…friends were always welcome in his book…he just hoped she was friendly!

((HI HAL! -huggles and clings to- I missed you! <3))

As she neared, she saw the blurred from of a wolf that walked along the water’s edge, coming in as if he knew this place. Scabbia paused, uncertain, and found herself even more bewildered as he saw her and sat. As if he’d been… expecting her?

Scabbia squinted, looking at the markings that distinguished him, finding them almost hauntingly familiar in a way she did not enjoy. And he was a large wolf, too.

She was not stupid enough to believe in ghosts, but she did not move closer from where she was on the path. Now was not the season to head down to large, imposing males who greeted her with stares.

“Are you lost,” she asked, figuring she could direct him easily back out and to the valley where a wolf of his size would find adequate sustenance.

(You too! :D <3 Just so you know since it might not be clear, coming into the gorge means he’s going south. It does technincally lead towards the mountains, but it’s not accessible for wolves to go between them!)

Bo paused, looking up at the she-wolf as she stopped, not even realizing how intimidating he might look, especially around this time of the year. The thought of forcing himself on her never even crossed his mind…it just wasn’t in his character. Though she had no way of knowing that…thus he was perplexed by the fact that she remained up the cliff path instead of joining him down here.

Smiling a goofy grin, he thought of her words and his answer. Was he lost? Kind of…this was a new area for him…but the land was familiar at least. Or more so the valley was. Thinking on it, he replied a bit loudly, hoping she could hear him. “I guess you could say so…heading towards the coast. I think if I keep going west, I’ll eventually reach it, but I could be mistaken.”

Thinking for a minute, he realized they didn’t even know each other. Chuckling softly, he grinned up at her and spoke again. “I’m Bohemian Yahn…though most just call me Bo. Used to live north-east of here, though it’s been some time since I left the valley. Some…stuff happened. Family drama…needed a break from it all.”

Heading to the coast by… heading into the gorge? Unless there was another coast at the end of the gorge that she’d failed to take note of, Scabbia was fairly certain he’d skewed his sense of direction. He went on to speak more, eager to divulge on topics she had not asked for. She passed them over neutrally.

“The gorge leads south,” she informed him, without the judgment her mind held. Perhaps he simply had turned himself around and confused himself. “Follow the river back north and turn west at the bend.”

Amazing, how, when faced with a stranger, she was able to fall back into the comfort of old patterns. Direct, aid minimally, send others on their way, return to solitude. Or some semblance of it.

It helped that his face was similar to her dead mate. Burly, with stern eyes, even if he seemed to be a friendly and over-sharing type. It helped her to focus.
