((*awkwardly makes another normal boring Clint thread while everyone else is threadlocked in drama*))

Clint still knew nothing. He knew nothing, man. Where was Stark? Hadn’t Stark been gone for like a month now? Did Gunnar ever find Eyja and have a happy family reunion? Did Eyja ever find her other daughter? Was Seeker still out looking for Theo? Was the Union still killing people? When was that beach trip gonna happen? The questions kept piling up.

The dell was a place that Clint had never spent much time in, but he found himself wandering through it now. He half-hoped that it would turn out that Stark or someone else had been hiding here the whole time, but it seemed empty so far. It was quiet and relaxing in a way, a place to hide from the world and all his worries… maybe. He could see why Stark liked this place.

Tomas knew trudging out of the Dell would be tedious, but he swore he could see the light in the distance. He had turned his pace, knowing that South was the direction he wanted to go in. Something maddening, like a pull, told him perhaps there would be interest in the South hearing the woes of the north.

But his shoulders rolled, his head half bowing down toward the ground with the sensation that was still crossing over his features. It was a build up of wonder, half doubting he would see those he had already crossed paths with. He had wandered away from the Brotherhood wolves enough that he had assumed himself safe.

Although he’d been given a fanciful green light, hadn’t he? The thought was an amusing one, which was why when he crossed the path of a similar scent to the authoritative young female, he was curious. Drawn to a halt in his tracks, in fact, turning his head with wonder.

Hm,” It wasn’t loud enough, but the curiosity blossomed. He couldn’t help it. Letting out a short bark, he wagged his tail, finding satisfaction in the action. Perhaps he would draw the male-scent back. Another wolf to establish some sort of knowing of, from the dangerous pack, stayed crisply on his mind as a positive action.

There was a bark. So, someone was around here after all. Was it someone from the Brotherhood, or a stranger wandering through? There were still a few wolves in the pack who Clint hadn’t met yet.

Was the bark even for him? Oh well, he barked back anyway, and set off in the direction of the other bark, because he had nothing better to do. In time, he caught sight of an unknown dark wolf. “Hello!” he called in a friendly tone as he approached.

A flick of an ear, and he lingered. No use surging a head to find out if he had been heard or not, as the ruckus of stomping without confidence through the dell was concerning enough to a listener.

But then eventually he heard something, although he found himself wary. It’d been Tomas that had called out, but regardless his tongue was looking to wrap around good politics and strong moves to keep the survival game on track. “Ahoy!” He sung back at the reveal of the young wolf, who he pegged to be around the young female’s age.

Know the quickest way out towards the plains south of here, friend?” An easy way of opening up the conversation. An offer, a show of intent.

Name’s Tomas. I met two Brotherhood wolves some time ago, and they’d given me a clear to keep passing through.” A quick summary, his tail wagging good naturedly.

He liked young ones. They were insightful, but they were also blunt as hell.

Okay, so Tomas was the wolf’s name, and he was just passing through and trying to get to the plains. And he had even already met other Brotherhood wolves who had no problem with him, so clearly there was no problem. Unless he was lying, but nahhh.

“Sure, I can show you a way out,” Clint answered with a smile, always glad to be helpful. He actually didn’t know the quickest way out though, since he didn’t come to the dell very often and he had never been to the plains at all. But he was just going to pretend that he knew what he was talking about.

“I’m Clint,” he added as he took a few steps in a random direction that would hopefully lead to a way out to the south. “Who did you meet?” He was curious.

The boy was trusting, quick to hear it all and then make little move to turn against it out of the mouth of an adult. So the half smile skirted across his features as he drew close, and he managed to swing his ears.

Clint. Clint was a rather strong name. But when asked the other names, it took him a moment reflexively to pull the strong lass and quiet boy’s names out of his head. “Natasha and Castor.

I had come to deliver some news to them. There’s a young miss spreading rumors about your home up North.” His voice was soft, attempting not to alarm the boy. It was being taken care of, he assumed. Although he near hoped there were indeed adults in the pack. Dangerous games for yearlings to be playing.

Clint kept walking, so that Tomas could follow him to… wherever they were going. “Oh. Natasha’s my sister,” he mentioned brightly, feeling somehow proud of the connection. He had stopped himself from excitedly announcing that he knew both of them, because that would probably be pretty obvious.

But then he was mainly just confused to hear that there were rumors about their home. “I didn’t hear about that… What kind of rumors?” The Brotherhood couldn’t have done anything bad. Was someone telling lies?

He might have remembered that he already knew of one lying wolf, if he thought about it a while, but the mention of up north made him think of someone else. “And who’s this young miss? Someone from the Union, by any chance?”

Gah! I so overlooked this, my apologies!

Tomas allowed himself to acknowledge the connection, while the warmth that was still on his features was clear. Natasha and Stark. They were appropriate, powerful names all the same that he hadn’t predicted. But it made sense, the air that the Brotherhood gave off.

Rumors that you are cruel, bloodthirsty and ultimately unwelcoming, I’m afraid.” Apologetic words on the tongue, although he was beginning to wonder if it had been all staged. Perhaps this was just a horde of yearlings, attempting to make due. To lure adults who found a need to be concerned in.

Ah, your sister knew her - Neo, something rather, I’m afraid I hadn’t caught her name.” The faintest smile, pointing his nose down toward the direction he knew he needed to go. Moving with lazy paws, his head dipping politely to ensure he caught the other’s words.

Clint was surprised to hear that it was Neomii-whatever, the wolf who had seemed friendly and playful at first, who was now apparently running around telling everyone that the Brotherhood was a pack of killers. “Wow. I met her too, that Neomii wolf… I don’t know what she’s trying to do. She told me that my siblings were mean to her and tried to hurt her, and I know she was lying, but I was nice to her, and now she’s telling everyone that we’re bloodthirsty?”

He shook his head slowly as he walked, disappointed and disturbed that more wolves could be trying to cause trouble for the Brotherhood. “We’re not that kind of pack at all. It would be stupid for us to attack everyone…” Especially since they were running low on members lately. It would be better to recruit any visitors that wandered through, rather than kill them.

“And my mom is the leader, and she’s the nicest wolf I know,” he asserted as confidently as a Clint could. He may be biased because she was his mom, but he was pretty sure she was the nicest wolf around. Definitely not cruel or bloodthirsty or unwelcoming, and therefore the rest of the pack wasn’t either. “Thanks for telling us about this,” he added.

Another flick of the ear, and he found himself amused that the boy had such a kind heart. To befriend, or attempt to, a crazy wolf was a difficult task. But he found himself with no certainty amused.

The pack was low on members, vulnerable. What a clever idea it would be for someone to put it in the head of others that it was dangerous. What a sweet method to go about eliminating a risk. But he found himself inclining his head to the boy’s thankfulness.

I find even the best intentions of us can lead us into being twisted by other’s tongues.” He murmured without looking to offend, shaking his head in conjunction to his words. “You can be the kindest wolf in the world, but if someone has taken offense - suddenly you’ve committed crimes worse than slaughtering pups.

A pause, in his step, before offering something of an empathetic smile. Surely it wasn’t the way anyone wanted to be known. But Tomas had been astute at articulating rumors. More than fighting, even, to defend.

You have to be wary of strangers, young man. Even me. No matter how nice we are.” It was a sad fact of life, unfortunately.
