Jote had relative knowledge of the areas east of where she currently was from way back when. The eastern desert was where she had originally entered the valley through and knew the coast didn’t live over there. Now she had to guess if it was south, north, or west. She figured she’d head west simply because it looked to be wide open for a while longer. Also, given the plentiful knowledge of some of the packs of the area that Sunfall handed to her on a silver platter, she figured she’d avoid going south as to not run into the Kingdom brats.

Adequate rest had treated her well, feeling completely renewed as she continued her journey to the coast. Even her injuries were no longer painful, just a tad bit sore, and she no longer limped on her back left leg. Every once in a while, if she moved her neck just right, she could feel a slight sting in her nape from the minor cut that lingered there although it was not enough of a sting for her to react to it. More just a reminder it was still healing. Her ear no longer throbbed, but the dried blood remained. She still couldn’t find a good place to rinse that off at considering most fresh water sources were still either frozen over or just cold as hell.

The silver wolf ambled through the plains, paws occasionally slipping on some areas of the ground that had iced over from the season nearing its end only to be frozen again because nature couldn’t make up its damn mind. Today it was snowing lightly, the white flakes gently hugging the ground and helping ever so slightly with Jote’s traction as she crossed through.

She’d learned of the Firewing Brotherhood, and their leader Valentina - who sounded less than pleasant - and the Evergreen wolves who were apparently equally as unpleasant, though she didn’t know where either pack resided. Hopefully wandering through the heart of the plains would help her avoid such unpleasantries. In the meantime, she wondered what the coast was like. She’d never been to one before, though she’d heard of them growing up. Excitement began to fill her core once again.

Zombie’s mind continued to wander as he traveled aimlessly.  After the last encounter, he’d realized perhaps he wasn’t up for ruffling feathers.  At least, he’s most likely not survive the experience, and that was one thing he had come to the conclusion about.  He intended to live, regardless of the path fate had dumped at his paws.  An oh was it a dark and twisted path.  Even in the bright morning sun could not wash away the doom and gloom that followed in the brutes wake.

Zombie’s eyes blinked in a fruitless attempt to shade his eyes.  He’d been walking through the night, and the mid morning sun continued to blind him even after long since rising.  Letting out a frosted breath, Zombie paused in his stride as a familiar scent tickled his senses.  For a brief moment, he thought he saw Kiriana, her white washed fur blended in with the snowfall.  Feeling his heart leap into his throat, Zombie took a quick step forward, only for the vision he was seeing to disappear completely.

In a moment, the massive male went from his entire height, full of life with spark in his eyes, back to brooding with his gaze low, forcing his head down.  The scent however, it didn’t leave.  Furrowing his brow, Zombie lifted his eyes, scanning the horizon around him.  Turning his gaze toward the wind, without a second thought, his paws followed suit, guiding him forward.

As he walked, the scent became stronger, and before long, he could clearly sense it was not Kiriana.  Another female… but not Kiriana.  This female produced another scent as well.  Faint, but Zombie could smell it.  Blood.

It didn’t take long for Zombie’s path to cross the females, as he was coming from the direction she was going.  At first, she was a shadow in the snowfall, but her silver coat became clear the closer he got.  No, she was no Kiriana… but she was striking in a different kind of way.

Zombie was unable to hide the disappointment as a shred of hope had blossomed desperately only to be plucked with malice.  He’d witnessed Kiriana die… but…

Stopping suddenly, his eyes squeezed tightly shut, Zombie growled deeply at himself.  He was spiriling, falling endlessly, and he knew it.  He needed to correct it, and focus on whatever task was at hand.  Currently, that included a female who was likely vulnerable.

Lifting his gaze, Zombie continued forward.  If he hadn’t been noticed thus far, he would be now as his massive frame could not be hidden by neither the terrain nor weather.  Eyes fixed, the brute rose his head as he came closer, showing just how large he truly was.  Now close enough to see clearly the blood that he’d sensed, Zombie slowed his pace as to not spook the female while approaching. “Such a fair creature to be wandering the land unescorted.”  His voice was deep, but not in the least bit threatening, matching is stature, if not his stance.

The overcast skies cast scattered shadows across some parts of the plains and every now and then, if they were close enough to a treeline, Jote could swear she saw figures watching her from the distance. However, she was nearly always wrong.

Until she saw a figure straight ahead of her who actually seemed pretty real this time around.

As the stranger approached, Jote stopped in her tracks and stared at him, watching him. He had a sort of ghastly appearance as he treaded amongst the snow with bright orange eyes. He looked similar to Jote, athough she had no idea since she’d never seen what she looked like. All she knew was that she had a torn ear that probably wasn’t very sightly, but she also had no idea how bad or minor it really was.

The male made his way to her slowly and part of her thought it was a tad bit menacing, but she tried not to judge a book by its cover. Although sometimes it was damn hard not to. She quirked a brow and regarded him skeptically, letting the silence deafen their ears before he broke it with a deep rumble of a voice to say…that she was a “fair creature”?

Who? Her?

The space between her brows crinkled in confusion as she proceeded to glance about herself. Left, right, behind her, up, everywhere before her orange gaze settled back on him. “Me?” She could’ve burst out laughing, but instead settled for an amused grin. “Thanks, I think.” She’d never been called “fair” before. Usually it was “bitch” or “spitfire” or “awesome” (or at least she liked to think that).

Pushing the first half of his comment aside, her brows returned to their normal resting places before addressing the latter half of his sentence. “Do I look like I need a bodyguard or something?” Her tone wasn’t accusatory nor was it hostile, mostly inquisitive. She knew she had a leaner build, but she definitely wasn’t fragile. Then again, this male had no way of knowing that.

Zombie stopped suddenly, taken aback by the females initial movements in response to his words.  She was… checking to see if he was talking about her?  The way she moved, another flash of Kiriana, and Zombies eye’s widened briefly before reality set back in.  He wasn’t losing his mind.  The snow, it was playing tricks.

The female was already speaking before Zombie entirely registered the words leaving her lips.  Of course, any wolf wandering the lands would assume the ability to do as such without companionship… but Zombie had seen and even been the aggressor of violent encounters.  His interest in this female?  He couldn’t say one way or the other.  She was there?  He missed Kiriana.  He was going mad?

Hatred deep in Zombie’s heart stirred.  Not wanting to scare of his potential, whatever, Zombie swallowed the demon within fighting to escape.

Stepping forward, his eyes sweeping over the females body, lingering briefly upon her torn ear, Zombie inhaled her scent deeply before responding.  “It’s never wise to travel alone.  One can never know just what will cross their path.  Shaking the dusting of snow from his thick pelt, Zombie paused his stride as close as he could get without the female stepping away from him.  What’s your name young one?

For a minute the male didn’t respond and Jote simply watched him, waiting for him to say something in return. There was something off about this guy, but she tried to not let those thoughts surface in the form of a facial expression to give it away. Rather than saying something else, she waited patiently for him.

When he did open his mouth to speak, his words were prefaced by a long inhale and she quirked a brow in curiosity. Was he smelling the blood that had dried on her ear? It was a few days old so she knew it couldn’t smell that fresh, but she supposed there would still be some metallic remnants hanging about in the air.

Words finally came out of him again, and Jote narrowed her eyes and tilted her head in a more skeptical fashion rather than puppylike style. Appearance-wise this male didn’t necessarily seem menacing to her, but Jote couldn’t say the same for the manner in which he spoke and held himself. She already had a track record going for running into douchebags, save for Sunfall, so naturally she kept her guard up. “It’s never wise to assume one is alone just because they don’t see anybody else around in that moment,” she retorted casually. She rose both brows and looked at him with a more ‘how about that, dude?’ playful expression. She wasn’t stupid and she knew how to lie.

The male finally stopped, trying to etch as close to her as he could and she subtly took a couple steps back to leave a body and a half’s length between them. Not too close for comfort, but still close enough for them to hear each other speak without any audible interference from the wind or something. In the back of her mind, she’d already planned to book it to the cover of the forest just north of where they were in case he decided to randomly lunge for her. She couldn’t be too sure of anybody around here and, now that she could comfortably amble on her legs once again, she had no doubt in her mind she could outrun the beast of a wolf standing before her. Not only was he gargantuan, but he also appeared much heavier and slower than her. She’d be surprised if it was any other way.

“My name is Jote. What about you?”

So, she had spunk.  This intrigued Zombie for many reasons.

“If that’s so, whoever is accompanying you is doing a poor job.”  He said bluntly, his rose colored eyes looking up to the females torn ear.  He was curious if the wound was a mark of a fighter, or a coward.  She didn’t seem to be the latter, but then, there were ways to find out.

It was as if Zombie lived to push.  Push himself to go on.  Push others away.  Push his lovers to their potential.  Push the buttons of a stranger, revealing their true soul within.  Not matter the variations of existence, all were connected in the most purest of ways.  There were only so many ways to exist.  You could live a thousand lives in a thousand ways, but who you are, truly, that would remain constant.  Sure, one could ‘change’, but put their weakness before their eyes, and you will see struggle.  The change?  Didn’t quite take full effect, did it?

Zombie knew these things.  He might not be either old or young, but he’s lived.  What he finds in others, he’d found in himself, and then some.  Zombie, he’s a walking tragedy.  Not to say he’s not the cause of most of it.  This latest tragedy though… the scars were deep, his mind…

The memory of Kiriana standing in the very place Jote now was… another flash of white, blazing blue eyes, the serenity flowing from her very being… Zombie blinked, and she was gone.  In her place, the female, Jote, stood staring into his glassy orbs.  Pulling in the crisp air, the large brute rose his head, stretching the muscles in his neck.  He’d been holding his head so low lately, it was actually painful to keep it up in order to have a conversation.

“Jote?”  He confirmed, letting her name roll off his tongue like smooth breath of a howl.  Smiling slightly, an uncommon sight for the giant, Zombie tilted his head as he gazed at the female.  His name… well, it wasn’t exactly roses.  “They call me Zombie.  Heart.”  He told her, curious to see the reaction she may give.  Where he came from, his name was known, and not exactly receptive.  But here… Zombie knew little of this land.  He’d wandered far, traveled across many unknown lands, though encountered few wolves along the way.  Within a few days, he’d already crossed direct paths with two.

He was conflicted with the matter.  The sulking brooding within wanted to speak to no one, see no one, hear no one, and focus only on the sorrow bubbling deep inside.  The other part of him was grateful for the distraction.  He’s loved so deeply, so entirely, the pain of the loss was unbearable.  To forget, for even a moment, was relief on his already unstable mind.

As if to remind him that he was going to hell and deserved nothing, another glance from Jote and once again, Kiriana was standing before him.  This time, she wasn’t going away.  Not like before, just a flash of white and memory to fill Zombies eyes in on what he saw.  Upon seeing her soft face, something in Zombie’s eyes softened to a kindness few have ever seen from the brute.  Taking a step closer, his heart swelling with all the emotions of love, Zombie opened his mouth, her name a faint whisper upon the gentle fall of the snow blanketing them.  ”...Kiriana?”

The moment his paw touched solid matter, blue eyes brightened into orange, and white fur stained with silver like the glint upon the water.  As disappointment flushed through his body, Zombie’s eyes darkened as he tore his gaze away from the females, tilting his snout to the air above them.  “Who would come if I called?  Your mate?”  He asked, not really caring for an answer.  Looking back to her, he continued.  “Your sister?  Brother?”  Smiling slowly, knowing he was calling her bluff, Zombie slowly began to circle, though not so much to stalk as more calling her out and boasting on his ‘brilliance’.  “A friend?”

Smirking slightly at the last comment, Zombie allowed a chuckle.  “Doubt it.”

She simply watched him as he spoke, a smirk returning his attempt at calling her out where she stood. She also watched as his eyes trailed to her ear, flicking it a little to add to his entertainment. She didn’t have to answer to his judgemental statement, she’d done nothing to elicit it in the first place. She did nothing to summon his entire demeanor to begin with, either, and right now she wasn’t exactly appreciating it.

There was silence for a time as Jote regarded the male in her own fashion, confidence playing in her eyes to dim the fire that lay behind them. She was waiting to see what this male even wanted with her. Was he one of the rapists she’d heard about? If that was the case, good fucking luck to him.

Before long he repeated her name and she waited to hear his own. When she did, she made no sort of expression. She had no idea what a zombie was and therefore his name meant nothing to her. Instead she blinked at the way he said it, placing verbal punctuation between his names. Was she missing some hidden meaning? She didn’t allow her face to reflect any sort of confused expression, but rather kept it stoic. “Pleasure,” she replied flatly.

But then something strange happened. There was suddenly a shift in the male’s demeanor, in his facial expression. Everything had softened in an instant and the original threat placed in his posture had vanished. And then, a name. Kiriana. Jote rose a brow and tilted her head as the name gently left his lips. He was staring directly at her as if he’d just seen someone he couldn’t live without and, quite frankly, it was making her extremely uncomfortable. Uncomfortable enough to take a few steps back as he took a step closer. What the hell was up with this guy?

Without warning the switch in him flipped back and the threat that was there from the start helped him to regain his more rigid stance. What the fuck even? He tried to be threatening by circling her after attempting, once again, to call her bluff. She really had no interest in playing his little games, but she couldn’t help herself from pointing out one little flaw he’d made.

“Oh give it up,” she rolled her eyes, sighing. “You realize if you call out, it’ll literally attract most others in the area whether I know them or not.” Or if she howled out if she thought he’d try to go for her throat - or rape her. She wasn’t particularly thrilled about either option and she’d sure as hell make that clear one way or the other. “You look menacing, I’ll give you that. But we got places to be and you’re kind of inhibiting that right now.” She intentionally and casually said ‘we’ instead of ‘I’, discreetly lengthening her lie.

“And you’re also irritating me, because as much as I’d like to keep going, now you’re making me wonder who the hell Kiriana is.” She stood her ground as he circled her. If he wanted a fight, he needed to realize his weaknesses against her first rather than only his strengths.

Zombie smiled, genuinely, pausing in his steps and looking into her eyes.  “I wasn’t planning on calling for anyone.  Just proving a point.  And I don’t mean to look menacing.  I suppose that just the way I look…”  Zombie glanced at the ground as if looking into the surface of water.  Seeing nothing, obviously, he lifted his gaze back to the silver creature before him.

It was obvious Jote wasn’t very interested in having a conversation with the brute.  Zombie frowned slightly.  This was the second wolf in few days, both of which want nothing to do with him.  He was starting to think perhaps there was something wrong with him.  He might not be Mr Cheerful, but he wasn’t off here was he?  He’d had valid points both times…

Snorting, Zombie moved to walk away, annoyed that he was being made out poorly.  Before Kiriana, he really would have cared less what others thought of him.  Hell, he didn’t truly care now, but to actively dismiss him?  If he wasn’t so depleted of both body and soul, he’d have proven his ‘worth’ to these…

Zombie couldn’t finish his thought as everything melted away at sound of Kiriana’s name.  Halting in his tracks, only Zombie’s tail moved as it literally wilted behind him.  Even dead, she could still sooth his mind.  Still curb the bitterness within that corrupted so deeply.  She was an angel of a creature, her touch so gentle, encouraging…

Zombie’s jaw clenched hard so hard the tightness coursed through his body to the tips of his toes, causing them to extend his claws into the dirt beneath him.  Just as it happened, the tension was gone, though the piercing look in Zombies eyes remained as he turned to look over his shoulder at Jote.  Gazing deeply into her eyes, they flashed Kiriana’s once more, releasing the anger within to visibly witness as his everything softened.

Lowering his gaze to females paws, his ears wilted slightly as Kiriana’s memory stung at his chest.  “She is… was… my mate.”  Zombie’s eyes remained lowered, unable to see the reaction of the female before her.  This was no play.  He didn’t even care if she thought it was.  This was… his life.  Or lack there of.

After a moment of silence, Zombie sucked in a breath and lifted his gaze.  Maybe thats why he was seeing Kiriana… this she wolf reminded him of her.  Not in look.  Nor in personality, not really.  She was alone.  He’d been evil once.  To the one he seeming could not live with out.  Then someone was ultimately evil to her.  And now… this female, so fragile.  Raising his head, overwhelmed with the surge of emotion, Zombie snapped at Jote.  “As I said.  It’s unsafe to travel alone.”

Orange eyes flickered into his auburn ones when Zombie returned her gaze. Apparently he wasn’t trying to look scary and part of Jote found that hard to believe. However, when he dropped his gaze and his voice trailed off, she’d admit she felt a little bad about assuming things about him and being so snappy. “Well…have you tried smiling normally?” She asked unsarcastically.

Lately she’d been quick to jump to conclusions and she started wondering if she was in heat. Immediately after she thought it she shook the notion out of her head. It was impossible considering she’d already experienced that a few weeks ago and even went through the trouble of hiding out everywhere she went to avoid potential unwanted mates. Being a female was hard, and tiring.

For a minute Jote felt relieved as Zombie began walking away, but internally cursed herself for having repeated the name he spoke. It resulted in him swiveling right back in her direction and she recalled the softening look to his face once more. The male suddenly looked defeated and when he explained the mysterious wolf behind the name, and in the fashion with which he explained it, the sporadic shifts in his mood suddenly made sense to Jote.

“I’m sorry to hear that,” she said with actual authenticity behind her condolences. “Can’t say I know what it’s like to experience something like that, but I can’t imagine it’s easy-”

Her breath was nearly stolen from her lungs as the male snapped at her. She was about done with these crazy mood swings of his. “You don’t think I know that?” She snapped back, narrowing her eyes more in frustration with him than anything. “If you’re so damn worried about me, then be my bodyguard or something,” she said, mostly joking and not really thinking he’d actually take her up on that statement, and not that she necessarily wanted him to, either.

Smile?  Him?  It happened from time to time.  So few and far between Zombie could probably count each and every one without missing a single moment.  Of course, most of his happiness happened with Kiriana.  She was who he’d lived for, and it was she who calmed and nurtured his soul.  All his smiles now were hollow in comparison.  After all, how could one be truly happy when having no real reason to live each day?

Zombie wanted for nothing.  He had no real urge to find another mate.  No urge to meld into a family of wolves and exist in a pack.  He doubted he even would be able to if he did want to.  He had no offspring, no one to teach and nourish.  Even the basics such as eating and drinking were merely to quash the pain within from lack of doing so.  In fact, the only thing in life Zombie looked forward to was the sweet release of sleep so not to have to feel.

“I’d smile… but then that would be dishonest.”  Zombie stated plainly.  He wasn’t one for lying.  Not really.  He had no reason to.  Take him or leave him for who and what he was.  He wouldn’t be someone he wasn’t no matter who was around him.  Kiriana accepted this.  Maybe its the reason he fell in love with her.

Zombie’s eyes lifted to Jote’s with her condolences.  She was the first wolf to feel sorrow for his loss.  The first wolf he’d actually confided in since the tragedy happened.  The realization somehow made everything more real, and revealed to Zombie, he did not like it.  He did not want sympathy.  No one should feel sorrow for him.  He was a brute of a wolf that took what he wanted whenever and wherever.  Or, at least he was.

It was Kiriana that had made him soften.  Kiriana that had changed him into a weaker creature.  And now she was gone.  She had gone and left him behind, nothing more than the empty shell that once was filled with power and determination.  And this creature before him, she stood there defying him, just as Kiriana had.  She, a weaker sex, alone, abandoned, left to die the same horrible death that had befallen upon his mate…

Zombie’s mind was spiraling out of control.  He was seeing his former mates mutilated body in vibrant flashes in his mind.  The image of her would flicker though, one moment being Kiriana, the next Jote.  All the wile, Jote barked at him, holding her ground in defiance.  Upon hearing her words, Zombies jaw clenched and he snarled back, the fur along his spine bristling in the excitement.  “If you knew that, why would you wander on your own only to be killed!”

It only took Zombie a moment to realize his mistake, though while his eyes softened noticeable, his breathing had increased from the adrenaline pumping through his veins.  Gazing at the wolf before him, Zombie stood in silence.  This female, she brought something out in him that he’d not felt since leaving his ‘homeland’.  True emotion.

Another flash of white, this time the gentle smile of knowing and guidance.  Letting out the rest of his anger with a breath of air, Zombie lifted his gaze back to Jote.  “I am no hero, but I cannot in good conscience walk away from a damsel in distress.”  Zombie wasn’t trying to be suave in any way, but simply could not go against whatever forces were bringing such attention to the female before him.  Not that he believed in any greater good or the ‘gods’.  What he did believe, was the visions flashing before him.  Why would she now show herself, and no other time in the many months Zombie wandered aimlessly?

I’d smile… but then that would be dishonest. This guy…he was a real charmer, wasn’t he? Jote couldn’t care less if he smiled, but he needed to stop getting all butthurt when she showed even minor irritation towards him - if she was being honest. However, she really wasn’t here to start any arguments - or further their current ones, rather - so she kept her mouth shut on the topic. Instead, she sighed as if to release the ghosts of what would have otherwise been snarky words.

Jote had no real experience with love or mates or whatever, she was a more independent kind of girl. She could take care of herself and didn’t need no man to make her happy or feel like she was worth anything. She had no idea how deep Zombie’s relationship with Kiriana ran, but from what she could gather of his intense mood shifts surrounding his dead mate she thought he needed to simply let go.

But she wouldn’t dare bring those thoughts to light. That might be his final breaking point, because right now, in her eyes, he seemed pretty weak. Not that that was a bad thing, but it was the main source of her irritation when he talked to her like she was the most fragile being on the planet. Like every step she took would break a bone, or every look another wolf gave her would sever a limb. She thought he needed to listen to himself first before saying these things to others, especially when his guard would seemingly randomly come down completely for a split second. Even a second can cost one a life.

He yelled at her again and Jote’s orange eyes slid upwards towards the sky, closing them briefly, as she held her breath in an attempt to keep profanities from slipping out. She worked to control herself, as much as she wanted to scream and beat words into this guy’s head because he clearly wasn’t getting it. “Do I look dead to you?” Was all she asked, her tone much more calm than she had expected.

There was another moment of silence until Zombie spoke again, this time sending Jote over the edge with the phrase ‘damsel in distress’. She groaned in frustration and when she looked back to the male, her orange eyes flickered with the force of a thousand burning fires, her nostrils flared in annoyance. “Call me that one more fucking time, I dare you,” she said in a grumbly tone.

“I’m not one to decline a companion, however brief the companionship may be, but you really need to stop acting like I can’t take care of myself or like everyone and everything is out to get me and only escalating it from there. I’m no damsel and I really don’t understand what is giving you the impression that I’m in distress. I’m literally just walking through snow and was in more or less a great mood until you came along assuming shit about me. If you want to tag along with me, that’s fine, but you need to learn to shut up about certain things or I swear to the gods I will rip your stomach out where you stand.” Her eyes narrowed, her chest heaving up and down after she’d said her piece.

This guy needed to learn some shit before Jote forced him to learn it. She was ready to get out of here and keep going onward towards the coast, but something gave her a feeling that the two were going to be stuck here bickering for much longer than she’d like.

This she wolf was trying his patience.  He’s already released all the anger building within him, which for Zombie, was a difficult thing to do.  Especially as of late.  Her thoughts of him weren’t far off, though he couldn’t know what she was thinking.  What he did know, was that the more she opened her mouth, the more he wanted to close it for her.  He’d encountered others in his lifetime that caused similar spikes of anger, all of which deserved his forthcoming wrath.  This one, she was correct, despite her forked tongue.  She simply had been walking, and her only misfortune, crossing Zombie’s path.

Watching as Jote ranted, Zombie lowered his haunches, his ears trained on the female before him.  He half expected a vision of Kiriana now, as she herself have lit into him in such a way in the beginning.  Zombie knew he wasn’t a jewel.  He never was another first choice, and his own attitude was the initial cause of such.  Then again, Kiriana has been the only other to see past his front and actually gain access to his heart.  The reason Zombie’s loss was so difficult to overcome.  What does one do, when one is not wanted?  What does one do when one doesn’t even want ones self?

Kiriana did not appear again however.  Just Zombie watching Jote watching him.  Letting out his own breath as she huffed for hers, Zombie blinked lazily, the sudden rush of emotions draining.  Still, he would respect his lost mate’s spirit, and for whatever reason, she wanted Zombie to help this female.  It would take a lot to bite his tongue, as it was not in his nature to be demanded anything, but Zombie was not without willpower.  Truth be told… this was the the first moment he’d not wanted to rip the heart from his chest and leave this world behind.  Perhaps all he had needed was a purpose.

Standing with a gentle nod of acknowledgement, Zombie lifted his head, looking down at the female.  “As you wish.”  His tone was not sarcastic, nor even defeated.  It simply reflected the moment of clarity he’d been graciously granted.  Still… with a smirk, he added, “Miss.”

(Ooc: Sorry for the delay!)

Surprisingly, the male didn’t try to combat her any further. Her furrowed brows released their tension as she turned her head slightly to the side while fiery eyes narrowed and watched him carefully. He was just…accepting what she’d said? She didn’t think he’d necessarily go out for an attack after that, but she definitely thought he’d have a few more choice words for her. But nope. He just sat his big butt down and gave in to her.

She snorted out some air and blinked a couple times before shifting her sights to the distance behind him. It was still overcast and the light snowfall created an eerie foglike scene beyond, but she was ready to head straight into it if he was.

“So you came from that direction…I’m looking for a coast.” Was all she said, eyes flickering back to him fleetingly. “Did you happen to come from one back there?” She wasn’t sure which direction the coast was, all she knew was she wasteland was far to the east and she decided to head in the opposite direction of that.

|| No worries! Sorry it’s so short this time haha. ||

Zombie watched as Jote struggled with his acceptance.  He actually enjoyed watching her reactions.  She reminded him of Kiriana.

He probably should walk way with that, leaving this female to her own devices.  He wasn’t looking to replace his mate.  He wasn’t even looking to be around anyone who was like her.  The constant reminder that she was no longer with him, that she no longer existed, it was painful.  He honestly couldn’t imagine how to survive such torture.  Yet… he didn’t leave.  He couldn’t.  Not until he was’released’.

Deep inside Zombie, he had a code of conduct.  A code which, seemingly could be bent to Zombie’s will, but more often than not remained in place unaltered.  A code which forced him to remain by Jote’s side.  Regardless of if she wanted or needed him.  It intrigued him how she sounded so confidant in her ability to travel alone, yet looked like she’d recently been through hell.  After their initial bickering however, Zombie wasn’t interested in igniting another fire by bringing it up.  The inquiry would wait for a stretch of silence, or an admission from Jote.

For now, Zombie merely followed the female’s gaze to the direction in which he had come from.  “Yes, the coast is behind me.”  Memories of traveling the line before making his way inward were faint, as he hadn’t quite been in the right mindset at the time, but he could remember the smell and sound as if he were still standing in sand.  Luckily for them, Zombie could retrace his track by way of scent now having traveled the course.  Hell, even Jote might be able to do the same.  She might need a deeper whiff though.

The thought made Zombie smirk, though he ignored it and stood.  Looking toward Jote, he nodded in the direction that would follow his trail back to the sea.  “After you miss.”  He said, his voice kind, despite the blackened hole where his heart had been residing within his chest.

(Ooc: I’m so sorry for the delay!  I promise my characters can be worth the waiting though!  In the long run ^^.  I should be better going forward though!  This last week was hell with work X_x)

There was suspicion that began to take hold of Jote the more the male went along with her without arguing. He seemed like a wild card and she wasn’t sure if she wanted that around her for long periods of time. Maybe he was just having an especially bad day. Hopefully he’d stop randomly giving her looks as if he couldn’t live without her. She wondered if he’d even realized he’d done that.

Before long he’d confirmed the location of the coast she was looking for, although now she wasn’t sure if she even needed to bother going to meet Yuna after all. Her wounds would be fine and she didn’t feel any signs of infection entering her body. But, she had nothing else to do. Perhaps the coast would bring something interesting in the end.

“After you miss.”

Bright orange eyes regarded him for a moment before pushing past his position heading west. “Let’s go, then, I guess,” she said as she passed him. She didn’t think she needed a bodyguard, but maybe over time he would earn his place of not getting on her nerves so easily. Only time would tell, considering he even stuck around long.

- Exit Jote -
