Royaume Magnifique

History

Jacqueline had grown up in a strict, militant pack that stressed the importance of physical wellness and ambition. Unimpressed with the other packs in Horizon Valley, Jacqueline set out in the fall of HY4 to form her own pack. She met Selra and Atura in the southern mountains during the winter, and the three of them set to work in recruiting and building a foundation for the pack.

After conceiving a son in Full Winter of HY5, Jacqueline set out alone to the northern reaches of the valley, to explore the promising territories around Cloudmirror Lake. She discovered Wormwood Grove and its tremendous rock formations and was immediately smitten. She soon reunited with Selra to begin claiming the land for her pack, though Atura had left the valley to search for more recruits. The pack was fully in bloom by Full Summer of HY5, and one day, with the sun just rising at dawn, Jacqueline stood atop the most prominent of all the Grove’s rocks to call her packmates together and unite them as the Royaume Magnifique - the Magnificent Kingdom.

Pack News

RM Yew calls for Selra to discuss with the woman if anything had happened under her watch. The conversation turns tense when Selra grows increasingly distressed over the sudden realization that her awareness of time is barely adequate. ("Roll Call!")

RRM Exhausted and heart-sore after his time in the mountains, Ozias stumbles back into the lowlands and encounters a kindly Yew, who lifts his spirits a little. ("Homeward Bound ")

RRM Irving and Selra are on their way to bring some offerings to the Hillside Sanctuary, when they're intercepted by Briar! She (easily) deceives Irving and makes off with a tasty beaver! ("where do beavers go to cash their paychecks? ")

RRM Ash comes sniffing around the Royaume borders. Initially met by a friendly Irving, he is quickly ambushed by Jacqueline and Selra and is mauled by the latter. ("Fighting fires ")

Information

Hierarchy

I. Ruler— Leader of the pack; oversees and directs all other ranks. If a female is leading, her title will be "Queen", if it is a male, "King." If a mate is taken, they obtain the same title depending on their gender (King or Queen) but they do not co-lead. The Ruler’s mate will take the duties of whatever role they are best suited for, despite having a different title. If the Ruler passes or steps down, a member of the council will step up via vote or by a physical challenge. In the event that the Ruler steps down, he or she may vote for a successor along with the Council.

II. Council— Highly skilled and capable wolves who meet with the Ruler to discuss and advise on pack affairs. Typically have other duties, such as hunting or fighting, when not advising.

III. Leaders— Wolves in each rank of the highest skill. Trusted with particularly difficult situations and passing on their knowledge through regular training sessions with others of their class.

IV. Knight— Highly skilled and disciplined fighters. They are the first line of defense and may also act offensively; their only duty is to train and fight for the Royaume. Slightly more revered than sentries.

IV. Sentry— Guardians of the land and to those who dwell in it, the Sentries guard those who cannot guard themselves. Sentries often guard and help raise the young in the spring and summer months. Their specialty is defense for the Royaume and its members.

IV. Apothecary— Wolves with expansive medicinal and healing knowledge. They treat the injured and sick and help care for mothers and their young.

IV. Hunter— Provide food for the pack through single and group hunts. Lead group hunts often.

IV. Diplomat— Charming and social. Manage inter-pack relations and travel often. May lead patrols to other packs or follow the ruler’s lead, but will almost always attend inter-pack patrols.

IV. Lady— A temporary rank for a female who is in the late stages of pregnancy, in labor, or has recently given birth. At this time, jobs are less strict and whilst recovering, are not required. Once the pups are weaned, the original rank will be given back.

IV. Lord— A temporary rank for the father of the female who is pregnant, in labor, or has recently given birth. His jobs, despite his previous rank, include guarding the perimeter, making sure the cache is sufficient so the pups are healthy, and remaining protective of his mate.

V. Commoner— A role for those who are unsure of their placement in the pack; an undecided role. Assigned to new members of the Royaume who have not yet proven their worth.

VI. Apprentice— A youth or an individual in training to become a full member of the Royaume. Assigned a mentor after general training is completed to prepare for a specific role.

VII. Prince/Princess— Pups of the pack. Typically mentored by parents and sentries during the formative stages. Will be given a mentor and apprentice status at any age if the appropriate interest and capabilities are shown.

VIII. Jester— The lowest of the low. A rank reserved for wolves with no display of drive or those who are believed to have acted against the Royaume and are awaiting a trial.
